Encircled

Scripture:

“But a messenger came to Saul, saying, “Hurry and come, for the Philistines have invaded the land!” Therefore Saul returned from pursuing David, and went against the Philistines; so they called that place the Rock of Escape.”
‭‭I Samuel‬ ‭23:27-28‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Observation:

Saul had been pursuing David to take his life.  In the verse prior to this one, Saul has three thousand men surrounding David and he is surely going to kill David and his men.  David was encircled by Saul’s men, but at just the right time the Philistines invaded the land and Saul had to pull his men to go fight them.  Even though David was encircled and ready to be killed, the LORD came through and delivered him from the hands of King Saul.

Application:

Sometimes we feel encircled by the enemy and there seems to be no way out of the situation.  Even in those times, the LORD has the ability to distract their enemy, detour the enemy or delay the enemy.  It is never too late for God to step in and fight our battles.  He specializes in difficult situations.  Encircled doesn’t mean defeated.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for showing me this in Your word today.  Help me to never give up because, though encircled, You are able to turn things around for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose.  Help me to walk in faith every day do my life and in confidence that You will do the things only You can do.

Yours,
Jeff
