You Bring Victory

Scripture:

“God, your wrap-around presence is my protection and my defense. You bring victory to all who reach out for you.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭7:10‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Observation:

This translation says that God’s wrap-around presence is our protection and defense.  Think about being wrapped by the presence of God.  We are hidden with Christ in God.  He is all around us.  He also brings victory to all who reach out to Him.

Application:

We must believe that God surrounds us with His glory and presence.  When we do that, we will have nothing to fear because before anything can get to us, it must go through God.  We must also see Him as the one who brings victory to those who reach out to Him.  We must never settle for defeat as the people of God.  We are called and destined to win.

Prayer:

Father, help me to understand more about Your wrap-around presence.  Surround me and protect me from every attack of the enemy.  Bring victory into my life, my home, my church and to everything I endeavor to do.  I trust You.

Yours,
Jeff

Unoffendable

Scripture:

“You are always and dearly loved by God! So robe yourself with virtues of God, since you have been divinely chosen to be holy. Be merciful as you endeavor to understand others, and be compassionate, showing kindness toward all. Be gentle and humble, unoffendable in your patience with others.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:12‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Observation:

Paul tells us here that we should be merciful, compassionate, kind, gentle, humble and unoffendable in our patience with others.  These are wonderful virtues to have, but they are also hard to live out unless we walk in step with the Holy Spirit.  He literally says we should be unoffendable.

Application:

We re to live lives that are unoffendable in our patience with others.  Offense comes when we think we have been wronged or taken advantage of.  Offense comes when we think people are talking behind our backs.  If we live unoffendable, then we are going to live a much happier, healthier life.  We must ask God to help us to live above offense, it zaps our spiritual strength.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to live an unoffendable life.  Help me to be quick to forgive and to live as Christ would live on this earth.  Empower my life with Your Spirit so that I can reflect you well.  I am Yours and I want my life to make a difference for Your kingdom.

Yours Forever,
Jeff

Praying for Others

Scripture:

“When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before!”
‭‭Job‬ ‭42:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Observation:

God spoke to Job’s friends and told them that they had misrepresented Him and that Job had accurately represented God.  God told them that when Job prayed for them, they would be blessed because of his integrity.  Job did what he was suppose to do and when he prayed for his friends, his personal breakthrough came.  When he prayed for others, his fortunes were restored with double what he had before.

Application:

I have found that in praying for others, my life is blessed.  When I pour out my heart to the Lord on someone else’s behalf, I see breakthrough in my own life.  We must never be so self-centered that our prayers are only for us and ours.  We must lift up others before the throne of God.

Prayer:

Lord, let me always pray for those around me.  Thanks for praying through me for the young man in Florida last night.  I was blessed in that time of prayer.  Help me to be sensitive to your voice so You can let me know who to pray for and when to pray.

Yours,
Jeff

Don’t Argue With God

Scripture:

““Do you still want to argue with the Almighty? You are God’s critic, but do you have the answers?””
‭‭Job‬ ‭40:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Observation:

Job had defended himself to God and his friends over and over, declaring his innocence.  Job argues incessantly with his friends that he has done nothing wrong and that God was punishing him in error. God finally speaks and lets Job know that he can’t judge God.  God asks him a long series of questions that Job can’t answer and then here says, “Do you still want to argue with God?”

Application:

So often we try to defend ourselves and our actions to God.  He already knows us better than we know ourselves.  He has all of the answers and knows better than us what we need.  When we question God, we are really saying we know better than Him what to do, which is serious pride and arrogance.  God is greater and knows more than any of us and we must learn to trust Him instead of question Him.

Prayer:

Lord, teach me to trust You more and more.  Help me to follow You completely and trust You in every part of my life.   Help me to not question You or justify why You should or shouldn’t do something.  Teach me to walk with You and completely trust You.  I am Yours.

God’s Incredible Power

Scripture:

“God’s voice is glorious in the thunder. We can’t even imagine the greatness of his power.”
‭‭Job‬ ‭37:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Observation:

Elihu, as he was talking to Job, brings out some very excellent things about God.  He says here that God’s voice is glorious in the thunder.  He sees God in nature in every way in this chapter.  He sees all of nature as being controlled by God.  He goes on to say that we can’t even imagine the greatness of His power.  It is beyond our imaginiation.

Application:

God is capable of anything!  There is nothing too difficult for Him.  The greatness of His power causes any mountain to tremble in His presence.  His power can turn any circumstance around.  He is greater than anything I can go through.  He is able to deliver at any time from anything I have gotten myself into.  He is all-powerful and He is on my side.  I am the child of the Almighty and He loves me.  What then is impossible?  Nothing.

Prayer:

Father, thanks for sharing with me today about Your great power.  You are truly amazing and I am honored to serve You.  You are worthy of honor, praise, and dedication.  Your power causes me to want to submit myself completely to You.  Help me to follow You better each day.  I am Yours.

Your Son,

God Speaks

Scripture:

“For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it. He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they lie in their beds.”
‭‭Job‬ ‭33:14-15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Observation:

Elihu presents his case to Job and in setting it up, he makes a comment about God that is powerful when you think about it.  He says that God speaks again and again, but people don’t recognize it.  he says God speaks in dreams and visions, but people don’t remember.  God does still speak today, but many don’t hear Him.

Application:

If God still speaks, then my job is to get in the place where I can hear His voice properly and respond correctly.  I need to seek God’s wisdom on everything in life.  I need to honor the dreams of the night and believe God can speak through them.  I need to listen carefully for the Lord.

Prayer:

God, I am convinced that You still speak.  You are amazing and I love You with all my heart.  Teach me to hear Your voice more and more clearly.  I want to walk with You and declare Your words.  I want to walk in the way of wisdom and see Your hand revealed in my life.

Wisdom’s Value

Scripture:

“Wisdom is more valuable than gold and crystal. It cannot be purchased with jewels mounted in fine gold.”
‭‭Job‬ ‭28:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Observation:

Job is speaking here to his friends and tells them about wisdom.  He says that wisdom is more valuable than god and crystal, yet it cannot be purchased for any amount.  Wisdom is more valuable than the things we dig into the earth to find and work incredibly to mine.

Application:

If wisdom is more valuable than gold and crystal, which we dig in the earth and expend a huge amount of time and effort to obtain, why don’t we seek it and value it more?  We should constantly be seeking the Lord for His wisdom to flow through our lives.  We should use all means to brain wisdom because the Word is full of scriptures about the value of it.  We need to seek it like a precious jewel.

Prayer:

Father, I want Your wisdom in my life.  Help me to pursue it completely and to obtain it.  Help me not to make decisions without wisdom.  Let me be guided by Your wisdom and not the wisdom of the world.  You are the wisest of the wise and I want to follow You and Your teachings.

Purified by Fire

Scripture:

““But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold. For I have stayed on God’s paths; I have followed his ways and not turned aside.”
‭‭Job‬ ‭23:10-11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Observation:

Job’s friends were continually trying to explain why he was going through what he was going through.  They wanted to figure it out so they could help him come out of the bad place he was in.  He says to them that when God tests him, he knows he will come out as pure gold because he has stayed on God’s path all the way.

Application:

There is a real confidence in staying on God’s path throughout our lives.  When you know you are innocent, you can have confidence that you are not being punished for something you have done.  You can know that this in only a test because you know you have walked in righteousness.  Innocence builds confidence.

Prayer:

Lord God Almighty, help me to never walk away from your paths, but stay on the right track all the days of my life.  I want to finish the course well.  I ask you to honor the faithfulness of my parents today and heal their bodies.  They have served You faithfully all the days of their lives.  Take care of them today.

Yours,
Jeff

My Mediator

Scripture:

“If only there were a mediator between us, someone who could bring us together.”
‭‭Job‬ ‭9:33‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Observation:

Job couldn’t understand why he was in the situation he was in.  He couldn’t understand why his life was falling apart before his eyes.  H cried out to God, but there was not answer.  At this point, he says some powerful words.  If only there was a mediator, someone who could bring us together.

Application:

In the New Testament Jesus is called out mediator.  He is our defense attorney, mediator, to he one who stands before God and brings us together.  God sent his only Son so that we would have the mediator Job longed for.  Jesus was punished so we wouldn’t have to be.  He is our mediator and we can trust Him to do an incredible job.

Prayer:

Jesus, thank you for showing me this.  You are the best!  Thank you for mediating on my behalf and standing before the Father for me.  On this last 20th day of the fast, I ask you one more time to pour out Your Spirit in my home, my family, my church and my community.  Pour out Your Spirit and heal all who come to our services tomorrow.  Move in and through my life more and more in the coming days.

You’re Incredible,
Jeff

God Can Turn Things Around

Scripture:

“But if you pray to God and seek the favor of the Almighty, and if you are pure and live with integrity, he will surely rise up and restore your happy home. And though you started with little, you will end with much.”
‭‭Job‬ ‭8:5-7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Observation:

Bildad replies to Job and actually gives him good advice this time.  He speaks life to his friend.  He tells him that if he prays and seeks God’s favor, is pure and full of integrity, God will rise up and restore Job’s happy family.  He goes on to say that even though Job is starting again with little, he will end with much because when God’s favor comes, it seriously turns things around.

Application:

When we blow it or feel like things are going terrible, we all need a friend who will speak these things into our lives.  We also need to be a friend who speaks these things into the lives of those around us.  Bildad believed and was convinced that if Job sought the Lord, things would change and he would once again be blessed.

Prayer:

Father, I look to You to pour out your favor on my life, my family, my church and my community.  I ask You to move on our behalf.  Restore everything the enemy has tried to take from us and let us see the day of your blessing and favor.  As we end this 21 day fast, let breakthroughs come in every family associated with Word of Life.

Yours,
Jeff

Even Though

Scripture:

Job 2:3  “Then the Lord asked Satan, “Have you noticed my servant Job? He is the finest man in all the earth. He is blameless—a man of complete integrity. He fears God and stays away from evil. And he has maintained his integrity, even though you urged me to harm him without cause.””
‭‭
Observation:

God had already allowed Satan to take pretty much everything Job owned as well as his children.  Everything was taken away from him, but he kept his integrity.  EVEN THOUGH he lost it all, he kept what was important and still worshiped the Lord.

Application:

I want to live an “even though” life.  No matter what happens to me, I want to live a life of worship and a life of integrity.  We need to be people who worship God when things are going our way and when things are not.  He is worthy of my worship, EVEN THOUGH things may not be going my way all the time.  May we learn to worship God and serve Him, even when things are not going well.

Prayer:

Lord God Almighty, You are worthy of all honor, praise, and glory.  Strengthen my faith so that even when I’m in a difficult place, I will worship You with al my heart.  Teach me to walk with You and walk a life of discipline before You.  Let my life be a life like Job that You can use as an example.

Jeff

Infused with Explosive Power

Scripture:

Phil. 4:12-13. “I know what it means to lack, and I know what it means to experience overwhelming abundance. For I’m trained in the secret of overcoming all things, whether in fullness or in hunger. And I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty.”
‭‭
Observation:

This is the familiar passage that is usually translated “I can do all tings through Christ who gives me strength”.  This Passion Translation words it differently and I love the wording.  The strength of God’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty.  It is His power that infuses us to conquer.

Application:

There is incredible power in Christ.  There is nothing He cannot do and we are infused with that same power when we come to Him.  He infuses us with the power to conquer.  Whatever area needs conquered is possible with Christ infusing us with His power.  I want the explosive power of Christ working more and more in my life to conquer everything that is not of God.

Prayer:

Father, fill me with Your incredible, explosive power.  Let my life be hidden with Christ in God.  Let Jesus live more and more in me.  Help me to keep my focus right and to let Christ flow in and through me throughout the day today.

Jeff

Not Hindured but Helped

Scripture:

Philippians 1:12. “I want you to know, dear ones, what has happened to me has not hindered, but helped my ministry of preaching the gospel, causing it to expand and spread to many people.”

Observation:

Paul is writing to the people of Philippi and tells them in his introduction that his imprisonment has not hindered but helped his ministry and that it was causing it to expand and spread.  Most people would be complaining about being imprisoned, Paul saw it as an opportunity for more people to come to Christ.  Sometimes our worst experiences are set ups for more to hear about Christ, but we will never see it if our perspective is messed up.

Application:

We must walk daily in the footsteps of Jesus and ask Him to be glorified in our lives.  When we are doing that, He may choose to glorify Himself in our weaknesses or our problems.  We need to stay focused through the storm and problem on the mission at hand, extending the kingdom of God.  Rather than trying to get out of bad situations, we must ask the Lord how it can be used for His glory.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to see things from Your perspective.  If I can reach more people through suffering and problems in my life, then so be it.  I want Your will and Your will alone.  I want to be part of extending Yur kingdom in the earth.  Help me to keep the right perspective.

Jeff

Divine Revearsals

Scripture:

Esther 8:2. “The king took off his signet ring—which he had taken back from Haman—and gave it to Mordecai. And Esther appointed Mordecai to be in charge of Haman’s property.”
‭‭
Observation:

Mordecai was hated by Haman, who was very close to the king.  Haman wanted to kill Mordecai and annihilate the Jews.  After prayer and fasting, the tables were turned, Haman was killed on a pole he erected for Mordecai and Mordecai was honored by being given the King’s signet ring.  Mordecai ended up being in charge of Haman’s property.

Application:

God is able to turn them tables on our enemies.  No matter how bad a situation looks, God can wake up a king in the middle of the night and have him read old records that will change everything in our lives.  God can take a situation that looks impossible and turn it upside down.  He can take us from helpless to powerful in a moment.  Nothing is beyond our God.  Therefore, we must never lose heart. No matter how bad it gets, it is never too late for God.

Prayer:

Father, teach me to walk in faith at a greater level.  Help me to have confidence in You and Your Word.  Thank You for reminding me today how You can turn everything around quickly for those who love You and are serving You.  During this 21 days of fasting and prayer, let me see more breakthroughs in my life, my family, and ministry.

Yours,
Jeff

Faith and Love

Scripture:

Ephesians 3:17. “Then, by constantly using your faith, the life of Christ will be released deep inside you, and the resting place of his love will become the very source and root of your life.”

Observation:

Paul says here that by constantly using our faith, the life of Christ is released deep inside us.  He also says that our resting place is His love and that it will become the very source and root of our lives.  The life of Christ is to be lived in us and through us through faith.  Most of us just want him to do what we want him to do in our lives, not to live through us.

Application:

If Christ is really living through my life, then my life is not about what I want or think I need.  It is about Him living through me.  It is about accomplishing His will.  It is about working together with Him as He works in us and through us.  I want to be a vessel Christ can live in fully and completely and that He can work through whenever He wants.  This tells me my life is not my own, but belongs to Christ.  I am His.

Prayer:

Lord God, help me to walk in faith more and more so that You can live in me completely.  Let my life be more and more Yours.  Help me to live out of the foundation of Your love and life.  Teach me to yield control of my life to You and to let You live in me completely and fully.

Yours,
Jeff

Remember This

Scripture:

Nehemiah 13:30-31. “So I purged out everything foreign and assigned tasks to the priests and Levites, making certain that each knew his work. I also made sure that the supply of wood for the altar and the first portions of the harvest were brought at the proper times. Remember this in my favor, O my God.”
‭‭
Observation:

Several times in the last three chapters Nehemiah finds out that the people had messed up by sinning on the Sabbath, marrying foreign women, doing what they knew was wrong, etc.  Each time it says Nehemiah went and cleansed everything and restarted the sacrifices.  He also says each time, Lord remember this.  He reminds the Lord that he had been faithful when the rest of Judah wasn’t.

Application:

Sometimes we can get frustrated as leaders when the people we lead don’t do what we know they need to do.  People are like sheep and tend to wander away.  Our job, like Nehemiah’s is to bring them back and show them the right way.  Sometimes it feels like they will newver get it, but we have to put things back in order for the Lord.  We can also remind the Lord that we have been faithful in this when we worship Him.

Prayer:

Lord, You are faithful though your people are not.  Like Nehemiah this morning, I try my best to put things in order and do the right things that will please You.  I want You blessed above all else.  Show me how to lead well because sometimes I feel like saying with Nehemiah, Lord I’ve tried my best and been faithful to You, now show Yourself strong on my behalf.

Yours,
Jeff

The Amazing Provider

Scripture:

Nehemiah 9:21. “For forty years you sustained them in the wilderness, and they lacked nothing. Their clothes did not wear out, and their feet did not swell!”
‭‭
Observation:

When the people of God were returning to Him after being in captivity for a long time, they were reminded of how He had provided for their ancestors.  For forty years, He sustained them in the wilderness and they didn’t lack anything.  Clothes didn’t wear out and feet did not swell.  God provides incredibly for His people!

Application:

If God can make clothes not wear out for forty years, He can do the same in other areas of life.  He is an incredible provider!  If God can sustain a couple million people in a wilderness by providing food, water and shelter, He can provide for my needs abundantly.  If He can feed the birds, He can take care of my life.

Prayer:

Lord God Almighty, You have always been so faithful to me.  You have always provided everything I need.  I am amazed at Your works and Your love for your children.  Thank you for always providing for Cheryl and me.  No matter how bad things have looked at times in our lives, You always have come through.  Bless my life with your abundant provision.  I love You.

Yours,
Jeff

Determination

Scripture:

Nehemiah 6:9. “They were just trying to intimidate us, imagining that they could discourage us and stop the work. So I continued the work with even greater determination.”

Observation:

Nehemiah realized his enemies were trying to intimidate him and were throwing to discourage him, but it says that he worked with even greater determination.

Application:

Many people shut down when faced with opposition, some people welcome it and get more determined than ever.  People who accomplish great things in life are people who are determined, no matter what happens, that they will finish the tast, complete the work, do what it necessary to win, etc.  Determination is that thing in your gut that won’t let you stop, even when things are not going so well.

Prayer:

Father, in the areas that I tend to give up too easily, strengthen and encourage me to live in determination.  Help me to live with internal fortitude that accomplishes great things for You.  Help me to never give up on what You call me to do, but to live with determination and faith.

Yours,
Jeff

Encouragement

Scripture:

Nehemiah 4:14. “Then as I looked over the situation, I called together the nobles and the rest of the people and said to them, “Don’t be afraid of the enemy! Remember the Lord, who is great and glorious, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes!””

Observation:

Nehemiah saw the enemy coming and God’s people getting worried as well as tired from working on the wall.  He told them, “Don’t be afraid of the enemy!  Remember the Lord, who is great and glorious”.  He went on to tell them to fight for their families.  He encouraged the people that they had what it takes and that they had nothing to fear.

Application:

A little encouragement goes a long way.  Most people just need someone to believe in them and to encourage them.  We must remind people not to fear the enemy or what could happen, but to remember the great and glorious Lord.  I need to be an encourager and help people caaomplish more in their lives.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to enoucourage Your people.  Give me opportunities to come alongside and speak words like Nehemiah did.  Give me the words to speak and how to speak them.  Let great things be accomplished through God’s people because they had a good encourager.

Financial Breakthrough

Scripture:

Ezra 6:8  ““Moreover, I hereby decree that you are to help these elders of the Jews as they rebuild this Temple of God. You must pay the full construction costs, without delay, from my taxes collected in the province west of the Euphrates River so that the work will not be interrupted.”
‭‭
Observation:

When God decided it was time to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem, He caused the finances to be paid for by heathen kings of other nations.  In this verse we are told that king Darius ordered his people to help rebuild the Temple and to pay the full construction costs so the work wouldn’t be interrupted.

Application:

When God decides to bless His children, He can use means that we can’t even imagine.  If He is able to have a heathen king pay for the reconstruction of His Temple, then He can take care of me financially.  He can bring financial breakthrough in ways we can’t even imagine.  Financial breakthrough is possible when we can’t see an answer in front of us.

Prayer:

Father, You are amazing and nothing is impossible for You.  You are able bless your people through unimaginable ways that we can’t even process in our minds.  You are the God of more than enough and I ask You to work miracles in my personal finances like You worked for the people of God returning to Judah.

Jeff

Celebrate the Wins

Scripture:

Ezra 3:10. “When the builders completed the foundation of the Lord’s Temple, the priests put on their robes and took their places to blow their trumpets. And the Levites, descendants of Asaph, clashed their cymbals to praise the Lord, just as King David had prescribed.”
‭‭
Observation:

When God’s people began to rebuild the Temple that had been torn down, they rejoiced when the foundation was complete.  They had a great celebration.  Old people who had seen the old Temple were crying and young people were celebrating because the Temple was being rebuilt.

Application:

It is good to celebrate the wins in life.  It gives momentum when we celebrate the forward advances God gives us.  We should periodically have times when we celebrate what the Lord has done for us.  We should honor Him in this way.  It is beautiful when God’s people have a thanksgiving time and celebrate the goodness of God and give testimony to what He has done.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to take time to celebrate the wins for You and Your kingdom.  I know I tend to just keep moving forward and pushing through the next thing, but help me to step back and celebrate the things You are doing in our midst.

Yours,
Jeff

Take Every Opportunity

Scripture:

Galatians 6:10. “Take advantage of every opportunity to be a blessing to others, especially to our brothers and sisters in the family of faith!”
‭‭
Observation:

Paul tells the Galatian people that they should take advantage of every opportunity to be a blessed to others, especially others believers.

Application:

I need to open my eyes to the opportunities to be a blessing to others.  When we are a blessing to those around us, we are demonstrating the love of Christ.  The opportunities are there, we just need to take advantage of them and use them for God’s glory.

Prayer:

Father, help me to take full advantage of every opportunity to be a blessing to someone around me.  Let Your love flow through my heart.  Teach me to see what You see and let my life be a blessed life. I want my life to be a blessing to others.

Yours,
Jeff

Life In God

Scripture:

Galatians 2:20. ““My old identity has been co-crucified with Messiah and no longer lives; for the nails of his cross crucified me with him. And now the essence of this new life is no longer mine, for the Anointed One lives his life through me— we live in union as one! My new life is empowered by the faith of the Son of God who loves me so much that he gave himself for me, and dispenses his life into mine!”

Observation:

This is the Passion Translation.  I love the wording here. When Paul says, “for the anointed one lives his life through me - we live in union as one!...and dispenses his life into mine!”  Wow.  Christ is seen here as dispensing His life into ours and through ours, and us living unified with Him.

Application:

There is so much in this little passage.  Jesus wants to live His life through us!  We are to live our lives unified with Him, connected to Him, with Him dispensing His life into ours.  Everything we do in Christ is through Him, about Him, for Him, etc.  I need to allow Christ to live through me in my generation.

Prayer:

Jesus, live through me.  Show me every step to take.  Let me truly walk in oneness with You and fulfill Your desires in the earth.  I am yours.  Let your life flow through me.  I want to live connected to You at all times.  If you want something done, do it through me.  I am yours.

God Can Use Anyone

Scripture:

II Chronicles 36:23. ““This is what King Cyrus of Persia says: “The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth. He has appointed me to build him a Temple at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Any of you who are his people may go there for this task. And may the Lord your God be with you!””

Observation:

King Cyrus of Persia heard from the Lord our God and appointed him to build a temple for the Lord at Jerusalem.  In this account, a pagan king was used by God to build His Temple.  The king went to the people and asked if any of them would go work on this task and then he blessed them by saying “may the Lord your God be with you”.

Application:

Even when Cyrus blessed the people, he realized it was “their” God.  God can raise up an outsider to do what is needed for His kingdom.  God can speak to those who are far from Him and cause them to be tender toward Him.  We must realize that God is God and He can do whatever He wants through whoever He wants.

Prayer:

Father, help me not to judge whether someone is capable of hearing from You.  Help me to walk humbly before You all the days of my life.  Teach me Your ways and help me to understand why You do the things You do.  I want to know You.  During this fast, open the heaven and let me hear Your voice clearly about every part of my life.

Yours,
Jeff

Merely Men

Scripture:

II Chronicles 32:8. “He may have a great army, but they are merely men. We have the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles for us!” Hezekiah’s words greatly encouraged the people.”
‭‭
Observation:

Hezekiah was a godly king who realized that no man can stand against the awesome power of God.  He understood that when God’s people humble themselves and pray and seek His face, that there is no army that can come against the people of God and win.  He encouraged his people that they enemy has a great army, but we have the Lord to fight our battles for us.

Application:

There are many times when it feels like the enemy is winning in our lives.  It seems like he is bigger and stronger than us and that we will fail.  During those times, we must remember that our God is greater than any army than can be arrayed against us.  We can stand strong when we know our relationship with God is good.  He defends His children.

Prayer:

Father, increase my faith.  Help me to see You as the absolute provider, strength, and protector of my life.  Help me to walk in confidence of your calling and your provision for my life.  You are incredible and have always fought my battles, but I still get worried at times.  Help me never to stress out, but to walk confident in my God.

Your Son,
Jeff

Seeking God’s Guidance

Scripture:

II Chronicles 26:5. “Uzziah sought God during the days of Zechariah, who taught him to fear God. And as long as the king sought guidance from the Lord, God gave him success.”
‭‭
Observation:

Uzziah sought the Lord, and this verse says that as long as he sought the Lord’s guidance, God gave him success.  Uzziah later got too comfortable seeking the Lord and began to do the priests functions and ended up with leprosy.  The Key words here are “as long as”.

Application:

We can say the same, as long as we are seeking the Lord’s guidance, we will see success.  God wants us not to lean on our own understanding, but to seek Him and His ways.  He wants us to seek His direction for our lives.  When we do our part, He does His and life is much, much better.

Prayer:

Lord, teach me to fear Your and to seek Your guidance on all things and at all times.  Help me to follow Your will completely.  You have blessed my life immensely as I have sought You.  Help me to keep seeking You and not rest on past victories.

Your Son,
Jeff
