Do not Answer Him

Scripture:

“But the people held their peace and answered him not a word; for the king’s commandment was, “Do not answer him.””
‭‭II Kings‬ ‭18:36‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Observation:

King Hezekiah was running Judah and Sennacherib, king of Assyria sent word that he was coming to destroy them.  He sent Rabshakeh with a word to tell them their God would never be able to defeat the armies of Assyria and to negotiate a treaty.  King Hezekiah told the people, “do not answer him”. The people held their peace and didn’t give an answer to him when he came boasting that they would defeat the people of Judah.

Application:

The enemy will always put questions in your heart about whether God will really come through for you or not.  He will always try to make you doubt God.  When the enemy puts those thoughts in our minds, our best position is to not answer him, even in our own thoughts.  When God has spoken, we can rest assured He will do what He says He will do.  The enemy will come and try to get us to walk in unbelief, but we must not listen and reply.  We don’t want to give the enemy a foothold.

Prayer:

Lord God Almighty, help me to respond appropriately when the enemy tells me that You are not going to bring me through situations.  Let Your voice be more clear and louder than the voice of the enemy.  Let my faith be more in You and not my feelings.  I am Yours and want to serve You well in my generation.

Yours Forever,
Jeff
