Scripture:
“Set your gaze on the path before you. With fixed purpose, looking straight ahead, ignore life’s distractions.”
Proverbs 4:25 TPT
Observation:
Here we are told to set our gaze on the path before us. In others words we should get on a path and stick to it with fixed purpose. We are told to look straight ahead and ignore life’s distractions. We need to figure out our purpose and set out gaze on it.
Application:
There are so many distractions today. So may things fight for our time and attention. Our job is to determine to fix our gaze on the path of our purpose, ignoring the distractions. Distractions will always be there in abundance, but we must ifx our focus. I need to focus on the main things and let the distractions go.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to get things accomplished for You and Your kingdom without getting so distracted. Teach me to keep my priorities in order and not to give in to the distractions of the day. I need Your help with this because there are so many distractions all day long. Help me to accomplish what I need to today and not get distracted.

Don’t Restrain the Fire
Scripture:
“Never restrain or put out the fire of the Holy Spirit.”
1 Thessalonians 5:19 TPT
Observation:
Paul tells the Thessalonians to never restrain or put out the fire of the Holy Spirit. Apparently it is possible to restrain Him and put out His fire. We can grieve Him by not doing what He says or by being embarrassed by Him.
Application:
I don’t want my life to restrain the Holy Spirit in any way. I want the fire to fall on my life and everywhere I serve the Lord. I want the Holy Spirit to flow in and through my life. Therefore, anything in me that restrains or puts out Holy Spirit’s fire must go from my life.
Prayer:
Father, help me to never quench, restrain or put out the fire of Your Spirit. Teach me to work with You Holy Spirit and never to restrain you. I don’t want to walk in excesses, but I do want the fire of Your Spirit to move and work in my life without restraint. Remove and hesitancy in my life that would hinder You from moving through me.
Yours,
Jeff

Weapons of Warfare
Scripture:
“God’s high and holy praises fill their mouths, for their shouted praises are their weapons of war! These warring weapons will bring vengeance on every opposing force and every resistant power—”
Psalms 149:6-7 TPT
Observation:
The Psalmist says here that the shouted praises of God’s people are weapons of war and that these weapons bring vengeance on every force and power that is opposing God.
Application:
Shouting the praises of God is important in our lives. I need to shout out God’s praises more often and let more enemies be defeated. I love to shout the praises of the Lord, but recently I have been busy with lots of other things bidding for my time. I need to get out my guitar and let out a shout of praise to my God and watch Him bring vengeance on every opposing force and resistant power.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to arrange my schedule with some shout time. Let me have the strength and energy to praise You with all y heart continually, but also give me some special times when I can let out a shout to the Lord. Teach me to use and value this weapon more and more.
Your Son,
Jeff

Why Was I Created?
Scripture:
“Everything you have made will praise you, fulfilling its purpose. And all your godly lovers will be found bowing before you. They will tell the world of the lavish splendor of your kingdom and preach about your limitless power.”
Psalms 145:10-11 TPT
Observation:
The Psalmist says here that everything God made will praise Him, fulfilling their purpose. My purpose is to praise the Lord. It goes on to say that the Lord’s Godly lovers will bow, tell the world about the splendor of His kingdom and preach about His limitless power.
Application:
If my purpose is to praise Him. I need to implement that in my life more and more. I want to go beyond that and be one of his godly lovers. It is these who will tell the world, and preach his limitless power. We can tell and preach because we are godly lovers. My first goal is to be a godly lover. My second goal is to tell the world about His incredible kingdom and preach about His limitless power.
Prayer:
Lord, let my life bring Your praise. Bring me into a place where my praise is continual and with all my heart. I want to serve You well. As I praise You, continue to open doors for me to preach about Yoru limitless power. Let me not just preach it, but demonstrate it so that Your name will be greatly praised in all the earth. Come and confirm Your word with signs following.

Shout for Joy
Scripture:
“Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness, And let Your saints shout for joy.”
Psalms 132:9 NKJV
Observation:
This Psalm tells us that God wants his priests, those who have been set apart for his service, to be clothed with righteousness. He wants his saints, everyone else in the Kingdom, to shout for joy. When these two things happen, God is exalted.
Application:
I want to live a life of righteousness. I want my life to be set apart for the Lord and His purposes us in the earth. I also want those I lead to shout for joy as saints. I want to see God’s people so enamored by Him that they can’t help but shout out a joyous shout. I want joy to be evident in my life as well.
Prayer:
Lord, I want my joy and my shout back. Help me not to get weighed down with the cares of this life, but to lean into You more and more. Fill my life with more of You and Your presence. Let me live in your presence at a greater level. Cloth me in righteousness and let me always have a shout of joy in my heart.
Yours,
Jeff

Life in the Word
Scripture:
“I will never forget Your precepts, For by them You have given me life.”
Psalms 119:93 NKJV
Observation:
The Psalmist here says that he will never forget God’s precepts of Laws. He says that by them God has given him life. It is by the word of God that we receive life, therefore we cannot take God’s word fro granted. We must take it to heart and never forget it.
Application:
I need to memorize Scripture more. After years of ministry and serving Christ, there is a lot of biblical knowledge, but I know I struggle with knowing chapter and verse for things. I need to memorize the word as part of my life so I never forget and receive the life that comes via the Word.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to memorize Your word. Let my mind grab hold and remember the passages of Scripture. Let it bring life to me in every way. Teach me to value Your word enough to memorize it.
Your Son,
Jeff

Precious
Scripture:
“Precious in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His saints.”
Psalms 116:15 NKJV
Observation:
The Lord says in this Psalm that the death of God’s saints is a precious occurrence. This doesn’t sound like something to be feared, dreaded or that we should fight at all costs. Something precious is something valuable. It is something that is dearly loved. In God’s sight, going home to be with Him is precious.
Application:
As believers, death shouldn’t be something we fear, but something we should see as precious. It is something we should see as a wonderful culmination of a live well-lived. We are called on to live good lives while on this earth. If we do, it is precious in God’s sight when we get called home. I want to live out my daysm finish my race and then have a precious home going.
Prayer:
Father, help me to see death how You do. Help me not to fear it, but to understand how You view it. Teach me to live every day fully and completely and to make the most of each day given to me. Help me to live life well, then go to be with You for eternity.
Yours Forever,
Jeff

God Turns Things Around
Scripture:
“He raises the poor out of the dust, And lifts the needy out of the ash heap, That He may seat him with princes— With the princes of His people.”
Psalms 113:7-8 NKJV
Observation:
One of God’s most awesome traits is that he turns things and people around in beautiful ways. He is the one who raises the poor out of their poverty and seats them with princes. So many times in my life I have witnessed people with no education, money, prestige, etc. sitting in high places with important people because God raised them up.
Application:
Nothing is too difficult for God. He is able to take the poor and needy and give them places of influence. He is able to turn any situation around in a moment should He decide to. Our job is to trust Him and put our confidence in Him. When we humble ourselves before Him, He will raise us up.
Prayer:
God, you are able to turn any situation around. I ask You to bless my home, my family, and my church abundantly. I thank You for all You have done in my life, but I also walk You to take it to the next level. You have been blessing us for years and have proven this to me over and over again. Help me to live a life that pleases You and that You want to bless.
Yours,
Jeff

Hunger and Thirst
Scripture:
“For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.”
Psalms 107:9 NKJV
Observation:
Here the Psalmist tells us that the longing should gets satisfied and the hungry get filled. In other words, he tells us that we are going to get from God what we long for and thirst for. When we hunger and thirst after righteousness, we will be filled.
Application:
Throughout the years I have noticed in serving God that He comes in direct proportion to the hunger and thirst of the people. When God’s people are hungering and passionately pursuing Him, He comes and fills us. He is drawn to those who are hungry for Him. I know in my life there are times when I am more hungry than other times for God and the things of God. If I stay hungry, He will come more and more.
Prayer:
Lord, I am hungry for You, but not at the level that causes You to come down and fill me. Forgive my halfheartedness and help me to stay hungry and thirsty for You and Your presence. There are so many things that pull me away and occupy my time, Help me to say no to more so I can say yes to You and Your presence.

Gladness
Scripture:
“Light is sown for the righteous, And gladness for the upright in heart.”
Psalms 97:11 NKJV
Observation:
This simple verse is beautiful. It says that light is sown for the righteous. In other words, the righteous will produce light, it has been planted in them. It says that gladness is sown into the upright. When we walk right with God, gladness will fill our lives. It is a byproduct of walking with the Lord.
Application:
If we are lacking in light, we need to check our level of righteousness. If we are not walking in gladness, we need to check our level of uprightness. When we walk with the Lord and in His ways, light and gladness will be the result. If they are lacking, we need to check our status with the Lord.
Prayer:
Lord, fill my life with light and gladness. I want to reflect You well in the earth. Help me to walk in Your ways and not my own. Teach me to follow Your ways in all I do. I want to serve You well all the days of my life. You are awesome!

Decades of Delight
Scripture:
“We’ve been overwhelmed with grief; come now and overwhelm us with gladness. Replace our years of trouble with decades of delight.”
Psalms 90:15 TPT
Observation:
The Psalmist here speaks honestly to the Lord. He doesn’t fake it, but really says he is overwhelmed with grief and that he wants God to overwhelm him with gladness. He asks God to replace the years of trouble with decades of delight.
Application:
We need to understand that it is okay to be honest with God. When things have gone bad, we should be honest like the Psalmist. It’s also okay to ask for the day of God’s blessing on our lives. I want God to replace years of trouble with decades of delight.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for your prophetic words yesterday about not having to struggle any more. Thank You for turning the tide for my life and my church. You are incredible! I say with the Psalmist this morning, overwhelm us with gladness and replace our year of trouble and work with decades of delight and joy.
Yours,
Jeff

My Daily Prayer
Scripture:
“Teach me more about you, how you work and how you move, so that I can walk onward in your truth until everything within me brings honor to your name.”
Psalms 86:11 TPT
Observation:
The Psalmist wants to know more about God. He wants to know how God works and moves so that he can walk in truth and bring honor to the Lord’s name. His desire is to know God better and better so that He can reflect Him more and more.
Application:
My daily prayer is that I can know God more and more every day. I want to know Him. I want to know what pleases Him and what I do that frustrates Him. I want to walk with Him in a way that brings great honor to His name. This is my heart’s desire in life.
Prayer:
Lord, I want to know You more each day. I want to hear Your voice clearly and to feel what You feel. I want to walk with You each moment in intimacy. Help me to seek You and to find You more every day. Reveal Yourself to me more and more so I can reflect You better and better.

Never Lacking
Scripture:
“For the Lord God is brighter than the brilliance of a sunrise! Wrapping himself around me like a shield, he is so generous with his gifts of grace and glory. Those who walk along his paths with integrity will never lack one thing they need, for he provides it all!”
Psalms 84:11 TPT
Observation:
The Psalmist here tells us that God is brighter than a sunrise and He wraps Himself around us like a shield. He goes on to say that those who walk along God’s paths with integrity will never lack one thing they need because God provides it all. God is the provider in our lives.
Application:
When we completely follow the Lord, He will provide for our needs. When we determine to walk along His paths, He will take care of us. When we walk in honesty, integrity, and character, God will make sure that we don’t lack anything we need for our journey. If we are on our own journey, we will often have lack.
Prayer:
Father, I ask You to be glorified in my life. Let my life and lifestyle bring Your honor and praise. Help me to walk with You daily, hourly, and by the minute. Help me to hear Your voice at all times and be sensitive to Your promptings. I want to see Your glory. I long to know You more and more each day. You are my everything.
Yours,
Jeff

David: Shepherd King
Scripture:
“God prepared David and took this gentle shepherd-king and presented him before the people as the one who would love and care for them with integrity, a pure heart, and the anointing to lead Israel, his holy inheritance.”
Psalms 78:71-72 TPT
Observation:
Here we seee David described beautifully. He is called here a shepherd-king an dis described as one who would love and care for them with integrity, a pure heart, and the anointing to lead. I see here that David’s success was based upon being gentle, shepherd-like, love, care, integrity, a pure heart and then God put His anointing on him that made everything else happen. David did his part by giving God something of character to work with and God did His part by anointing him for service.
Application:
I need to give God something to work with. I need to offer Him my absolute best. My job is to walk in gentleness and shepherd God’s people well. I need to walk in God’s love for His people and care for them with integrity, a pure heart and then His anointing will come on my life to do what He wants done. I need to do my part while I trust God to do His part.
Prayer:
Lord God Almighty, help me to follow You completely and to serve You with integrity of heart and character. Teach me to love people like You do. Enable me to lead Your people well. Let my heart be pure and undivided. I want to work with You to build Your kingdom. Let my heart break with what breaks Your heart. Let my heart rejoice in what makes You rejoice. I am Yours.
Your Son,
Jeff

Satisfied with God
Scripture:
“I overflow with praise when I come before you, for the anointing of your presence satisfies me like nothing else. You are such a rich banquet of pleasure to my soul.”
Psalms 63:5 TPT
Observation:
The Psalmist says here that he overflows with praise when he comes before God. He says the anointing of God’s presence satisfies him like nothing else and that God is a rich banquet for his soul. He loved the presence of the Lord and the anointing of His Spirit.
Application:
I love the presence of the Lord. It is amazing to be in His presence. There is nothing like it in all the world. I can say with the Psalmist that the anointing of God’s presence satisfies me like nothing else. There’s nowhere I’d rather be than in the presence of the Lord. His presence brings confidence, strength, anointing, power, and everything we need for life and godliness.
Prayer:
Lord, I’m a lover of Your presence. In your presence I find my joy, my peace, my confidence, my heart, and my anointing. Let me walk in Your presence at a greater level. Let it not be something I step into occasionally, but something I walk in continually. There’s no place I would rather be than in Your presence with Your glory and anointing flowing.
Yours Forever,
Jeff
Yours Forever,
Jeff

Dealing With Betrayal
Scripture:
“I was betrayed by my friend, though I lived in peace with him. While he was stretching out his hand of friendship, he was secretly breaking every promise he had ever made to me! So here’s what I’ve learned through it all: Leave all your cares and anxieties at the feet of the Lord, and measureless grace will strengthen you.”
Psalms 55:20, 22 TPT
Observation:
The Psalmist speaks here about a friend who worshiped with him in God’s house who betrayed him. He was secretly breaking promises that hurt their friendship. The Psalmist saw the situation and decided to leave his cares and anxieties at the feet of the Lord and His grace strengthens you.
Application:
People will betray you. People will use you for what they need from you and will hurt your feelings. When they do, our best defense is running to God and leaving our cares and worries at His feet, then His grace gives us strength. When we bring our problems to the Lord, He does enable us to deal with them. He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother and we can trust Him. He will never betray us!
Prayer:
Lord, help me to bring my cares and anxieties to You. Help me not to worry so much what other people think about me. Help me to do Your will, and not worry so much about what people think about me. I am Yours and I want to serve You well. When I am betrayed, teach me to bring my cares to You.
Your Son,
Jeff

Confident in God’s Love
Scripture:
“But I am like a flourishing olive tree, anointed in the house of God. I trust in the unending love of God; his passion toward me is forever and ever.”
Psalms 52:8 TPT
Observation:
The Psalmist here speaks of himself as God sees him instead of how he feels. He declares himself to be a flourishing olive tree, anointed in the house of God. He knew he was anointed. He trusted in the unending love of God. He goes on to say that God’s passion for him is forever and ever. He knew and was confident in God’s love for him.
Application:
I want to walk in this level of confidence in the love of God. I want to know who I am in Christ and understand completely just how much God loves me. I want to be able to confidently declare how much God loves me. I want all insecurity gone from my relationship to God. I want to declare that I wam a flourishing olive tree anointed in the house of God.
Prayer:
Father, help me to walk in confidence in my relationship with You. Teach me to know just how You feel about me and to never question Your love for me. Help me to walk in the understanding of Your incredible love for me. Help me not to compare myself with others and to think You love them more than me. I am yours.
Your Son,
Jeff

Astonishing
Scripture:
“The Lord God Most High is astonishing, awesome beyond words! He’s the formidable and powerful King over all the earth.”
Psalms 47:2 TPT
Observation:
In this passage the Psalmist describes the Lord as “astonishing” and “awesome beyond words”. These are excellent words to describe the Lord. He is truly incredible. His worthiness is beyond the realm of our human vocabulary. We don’t have strong enough words to describe the awesomeness of God.
Application:
If God is awesome beyond words, why don’t I tell more people about Him. He has blessed my life over and over again. He has done amazing things for me, why do I start silent most of the time? I need to tell of God’s goodness. I need to let the world know how astonishing He really is. May my life always be a life of praise. May my praise be unconditional because He is awesome beyond words. May my lips praise him with the Spirit and with understanding.
Prayer:
Lord, let my life tell of your incredible faithfulness. Help me to love you more each day. You are astonishing and awesome beyond words. Help me to worship and praise You in ways that bring You the absolute most glory. I want to serve You well.
Yours,
Jeff

The Waiting
Scripture:
“I waited and waited and waited some more, patiently, knowing God would come through for me. Then, at last, he bent down and listened to my cry.”
Psalms 40:1 TPT
Observation:
The Psalmist said that he waited and waited and waited some more, patiently. He knew God would come through for him, but the wait apparently was pretty long and his patience was strongly required. The New Testament says that with faith and patience we inherit the promises.
Application:
We don’t like to wait for anything in today’s society. We act like God needs to answer our prayer immediately or He doesn’t love us. I need to learn to walk in faith and patience. Sometimes the answer won’t come in our time, but in God’s time, which is better anyway. I need to learn to trust Him more, knowing and being confident that He will do all He has said He will do.
Prayer:
Father, help me to walk in faith at all times, but in patience as well. I know You have amazing plans for my life and I have been in a rush to see them all happen. Help me to trust You more and lean not on my own understanding. Help me to work hard, but to learn that the wait is okay.
Yours,
Jeff

How Can I Keep Silent?
Scripture:
“How could I be silent when it’s time to praise you? Now my heart sings out loud, bursting with joy— a bliss inside that keeps me singing, “I can never thank you enough!””
Psalms 30:12 TPT
Observation:
The Psalmist here asks the question, “How can I be silent when it’s time to praise you?” He feels incredible joy and wants to express is desperately. What is the song bursting forth? “I can never thank you enough!” He understood that praise and thanksgiving are the proper response to God’s goodness and he did not feel he should hold that back.
Application:
I have always been a worshipper, but this Psalm makes me want to give God some praise and thanksgiving. He has been incredibly good and faithful to me. He always comes through. I don’t want to keep silent, but to let God heat my praise and gratefulness for all He has done in my life. He has been amazing to me all the days of my life.
Prayer:
Father, You are incredible and I love you with all my heart. Let me never hold back my praise because I’m afraid of what people think. Help me to praise You like David, with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. I want to honor You in my worship. My heart, like the Psalmist, breaks forth in praise and thanksgiving today. You’re the best!

Jeff

My Boast
Scripture:
“Some find their strength in their weapons and wisdom, but my miracle deliverance can never be won by men. Our boast is in the Lord our God, who makes us strong and gives us victory!”
Psalms 20:7 TPT
Observation:
The Psalmist declares that some may find their strength in weapons and their own intellect, but he says that his miracle deliverance was never won by any man. It was God who delivered David and he knew it. His boast was in the Lord, who gets all the credit for great things done.
Application:
When good things happen in our lives, our boast cannot be in our wisdom, intellect, or strength, but in the Lord who gave us these things. He wants a people who will give Him praise for His work in their lives. We have nothing without Him, therefore He is to be praised for every good thing that occurs in our lives.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to always lift up Your name and give You praise for the great things Your do in my life. You have blessed me over and over again. You have been faithful to me all the days of my life. Thank You for taking care of me, my family, your church and my city.

My Secure Foundation
Scripture:
“Could there be any other god like you? You are the only God to be worshiped, for there is not a more secure foundation to build my life upon than you.”
Psalms 18:31 TPT
Observation:
The Psalmist realized the God was a secure foundation to build his life upon. He realized that know God was to be worshiped and that there was nobody like our God. Though David was wealthy and powerful, he realized where his strength came from.
Application:
A foundation is what a building or house is built on. It is the solid part that is under the surface of the earth. It isn’t seen, but without it, the building would fall. God wants us to have Him as the foundation of our lives. He wants us to build our lives in Him. When we do, we will realize that He is the only Solid foundation.
Prayer:
Father, be the foundation of my life. Let my life be built on You and You alone. Strengthen my life and let it be built on You. Be my source, my strength, my fortress and my foundation. Help me to walk humbly before You all the days of my life. I am Yours and want to serve You well.
