Scripture:
Matthew 6:27 "Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"
Observation:
This is found in Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. He was telling His followers that God would take care of them. He said that if God took care of feeding the birds of the air, would He not take care of His own children. Jesus strongly tells us here that worrying will do nothing for us and that we hav no reason to worry.
Application:
This is much easier said than done. It is easy to tell people, "don't worry", but their mind will immediately start worrying. It is our nature to worry about things we cannot control. We must learn to walk above our old human nature and walk in the power of the Spirit, who is not worried. The key to worry is walking in step with the Spirit and hearing His voice telling us that He is in control.
Prayer:
Father, help me to worry less and trust You more. I know that worry is simply a lack of trust or faith in You. Forgive me for not trusting You more completely and walking in worry instead of simple obedience.
Yours,
Jeff
