Scripture:
“My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.” Psalms 73:26 NLT
Observation:
As humans, our strength fails at times and, as we grow older, we tend to get weaker. This reality for us as evidenced since Old Testament times. As we grow older and get weaker, God must remain the strength of our heart. I love where the Psalmist Asaph says, “He is mine forever.”
Application:
When we take wedding vows, we say things like, to have and to hold from this day forward, in sickness and in health, for richer and poorer, in good times and bad times, I faithfully commit my love to you. We need to make our covenant with God stronger than any other covenant. I want to declare, “He is mine forever.” When I have strength, He is mine. When I don’t have strength, He is mine. When my health fails, He is mine. When my spirit grows weak, He is mine. In every situation life throws at me, He is mine.
Prayer:
Lord, You are mine! You have been so good to me all the days of my life. You have blessed me strengthened me, walked with me, and helped me over and over again. You are faithful. Help me to be faithful when I see the answer and faithful when I don’t. Show me how to walk as You want me to walk. Let me represent You well in my generation.
Your Son Forever,
Jeff
