Scripture:
“Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.” Psalms 37:7 NLT
Observation:
This passage tells us to be still in the presence of the Lord and to wait patiently for Him to act. Sometimes this is the hardest thing to do. He goes on to say that we shouldn’t worry about evil people or what they scheme against us. These words are wonderful, but hard to live out. As humans, we like to act, and to act swiftly on our own behalf. We don’t like to wait on the Lord, especially not patiently.
Application:
What God is saying to us through this passage is that God is in control and He sees everything that goes on. He knows when we have been wronged or cheated. He knows when people have schemed against us and He wants us to wait patiently on Him rather than stepping in and taking care of it ourselves. Learning to be still and let God work is a hard lesson to learn, but it is powerful. He is better at dealing with my enemies than I will ever be.
Prayer:
Lord God, You are faithful and true. You are all-powerful. You are all-knowing and You are ever-present. You know everything people say and do against me. You know all things. Help me to trust You more and to react less in the flesh. Help me to not fret or worry about relationships and what people are saying or doing that make me uneasy. Teach me to be still and relax because You are in control.
Yours Forever,
Jeff
