Scripture:
“The same thing happened in Iconium. Paul and Barnabas went to the Jewish synagogue and preached with such power that a great number of both Jews and Greeks became believers.” Acts of the Apostles 14:1 NLT
Observation:
In the text, Paul and Barnabas are seen as preaching with such power that a great number of Jews and Greeks became believers. Power confirms the word of the Lord. Arguing doctrine usually doesn’t convince someone to follow Jesus, but when they sense power from on high, they know there is something different on this person. Power convinces stronger than a strong argument every time, yet the church world leans on our own understanding and wisdom instead of the power of God.
Application:
We need the power of God in our midst. People want something real, not a philosophy or a teaching. They want to SEE the power of God in action and experience it for themselves. I am still convinced that that preaching must be, not with words of man’s wisdom, but with demonstration of the Spirit’s power so that man’s faith will not be in the wisdom of man, but in the power of God. I want to preach with POWER.
Prayer:
Father, empower my preaching and teaching with Your presence. Let Your Spirit fall and confirm what is being spoken. Help me not to do anything apart from You, but to speak what You are speaking and teach what You are teaching. I want to be align with You and Your plans above everything else. I don’t want to preach a powerless Gospel, but a powerful Gospel that can liberate the oppressed, heal the sick, raise the. Dead and cast out demons. You are powerful. Let my preaching be with Your Power and not my own intellect.
Yours Forever,
Jeff
