“Each young woman’s turn came to go in to King Ahasuerus after she had completed twelve months’ preparation, according to the regulations for the women, for thus were the days of their preparation apportioned: six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with perfumes and preparations for beautifying women.”

Observation:
When the king sent out a message to find the most beautiful women in the kingdom, they were to be prepared before they got to go before him. Though they were beautiful, they had to go through a 12 month preparation process before they could go before the king. We think preparations on the day of a wedding are extravagant, but this goes to a whole other level.
Application:
Anything worth having in life is worth preparing for. Preparations are usually not fun and they are generally tedious, but faithfulness in the season of preparation will get you where you need to get. I personally hate preparation. I would rather just go into battle and get to fighting, but there are always preparations in God. We should always be upgrading and making ourselves better while waiting on the next thing God is preparing for us.
Prayer:
Father, help me to enjoy the preparation times in life. Teach me to appreciate the process and not get frustrated during the preparation seasons. I want to be all I can be and to be effective for You and Your kingdom. Help me to prepare well.
