A Faithful Man

Scripture:

“that I gave the charge of Jerusalem to my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the leader of the citadel, for he was a faithful man and feared God more than many.”
‭‭Nehemiah‬ ‭7:2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Observation:

When the wall was built, Nehemiah gave charge of Jerusalem to his brother Hanani, and Hananiah because he was a faithful man and feared God more than many.  Who did Nehemiah pick?  The one who had been faithful and feared God.  Leadership comes from faithfulness and fearing God.

Application:

Who should be empowered to lead?  Those who are faithful and who fear God.  When we fear God, we will always want to please Him and do the right things, not the convenient thing.  When we are faithful, we do the simple things continually.  Faithfulness is crucial in leadership.  Those who come in too quickly and want to lead are scary.  Those who are faithful in the simple things are the ones who should be raised up into leadership.  Those who fear God and want to do right by Him are also great candidates for leadership because they fear doing something wrong.

Prayer:

Lord God Almighty, help me to appoint the right leaders at the right times.  Help me to honor faithfulness and fearing God over charisma and anointing.  Enable me to live a life of faithfulness and fear of God so that I can be elevated to stronger levels of leadership.  Help me to lead well and live a faithful life in the fear of God.

Your Son,
Jeff
