“with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Ephesians 4:2-3 NKJV
Observation:
In this passage, Paul is telling the Ephesians to remain humble and gentle with each other in love. He goes on to say that they should try to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Paul knew the importance of relationships in the Kingdom. He knew that unity is crucial for any church to prosper and he told them to “endeavor” or “work” toward keeping unity.
Application:
Unity brings the commanded blessing of God. Unity makes God’s people unstoppable. The enemy hates a unified church, a unified home, a unified organization, etc. because where there is unity, great things will happen. We must seek to walk in unity with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We do this by remaining humble, gentle and demonstrating long suffering.
Prayer:
Father, help me to keep the unity and to walk in humility, yet confidence. Teach me to lead Your people well and show me how to keep the peace and unity each day. Empower me by Your Spirit to love like You love and to serve like You serve. Show me how to balance authority and humility.
