Scripture:
II Chronicles 25:9 "Amaziah asked the man of God, 'But what about the hundred talents I paid for these Israelite troops?' The man of God replied, 'The Lord can give you much more than that'".
Observation:
Amaziah, king of Judah, had bought troops from Israel to fight with his men. A man of God came to him and told him he needed to depend on the Lord and not be hiring troops from a country that was not serving the Lord. Amaziah complained and said that he had already hired them and the man of God told him these words, "The Lord can give you much more than that".
Application:
Sometimes when we strive to do things that appear right in our own eyes so that we can get ahead, we go ahead of the Lord and take things into our own hands. It may seem like we are doing well in those times, but the man of God would say, "The Lord can give you much more than that". God can bless us with more than we can work hard to make happen when we trust in Him. When we follow His voice and His will, we will see His hand of blessing which is "much more" than what we can work for.
Prayer:
Father, you are capable of "much more than that". You are capable of much more than I could ever work hard to produce. You are able to bless me and my family more than what I could ever strive and work for. Help me to trust You more. You are my source and my resource. You are my strength and my salvation. You are my rock and my fortress. I look to the one who is "much more than that".
Yours,
Jeff
