Scripture:
Leviticus 6:9 "Command Aaron and his sons saying, 'This is the law for the burnt offering: the burnt offering itself shall remain on the hearth on the altar all night until the morning, and the fire on the altar is to be kept burning on it'".
Observation:
The altar of the burnt offering was to have fire on it at all times. It was never to go out. The burnt offering was a a sacrificial offering to the Lord. It provided the Lord with the sweet incense and aroma of the offerings. No matter what, this fire was never to go out.
Application:
Out lives are living sacrifices to the Lord. We should have continual offerings of worship and praise to the Lord and we should guard them to make sure the fire never goes out. The fire only goes out when we have not tended it. When we take inventory and see the flame is getting low, we must put some wood on it. We must take inventory of our spiritual lives. Sometimes we need to "fan into flame" the gifts and fire of God in our lives.
Prayer:
Father, help me stay on fire for You. Let my offerings of praise and worship never stop, but let the fire grow. Teach me to walk with You every day. I want to hear Your voice and learn of You. I want my fire to never go out.
Yours,
Jeff
