Remain Silent

Scripture:

Psalm 4:4 "Don't sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent".

Observation:

The word of God is always powerful and has a way of bringing truth to us very clearly. The Psalmist says we shouldn't sin by letting anger control us. Anger is not sin according to the Word of God, but we cannot allow anger to control us, we are to control anger. We should exhibit self control in every instance rather than allowing anger to run our lives.

Application:

The Psalmist actually gave the application as good as is can be put. He said, "Think about it overnight and remain silent". Our lives would be so different if we would think about how to respond to situations rather than spouting off at the mouth in anger when our feelings get hurt. If we would step back for a night and think about it, usually we would respond much differently. Take time and think before you speak. Don't let anger control you, but control your anger!

Prayer:

Lord, help me to refrain from speaking when angry. Teach me to bite my tongue until I have Your perspective on each situation. You always know exactly what to do. Help me to walk with You and respond how You would. I want to represent You well on the earth.

Your Son,
Jeff
