Scripture:
Job 37:14 "Pay attention to this, Job. Stop and consider the wonderful miracles of God!"
Observation:
Here again Job is being comforted by his friend. He is told to pay attention, to stop and consider something. As Job is in his suffering and going through an incredibly terrible place in his life, he is told to stop and consider the wonderful miracles of God. Job is still reasoning and trying to figure out why all of this has happened to him. He is struggling and reasoning with God when he is told to Stop and consider the awesomeness of God.
Application:
This is really wise council for someone going through a difficult season of life. Usually when times get tough, we walk away from God and refuse to stop and think about His greatness. We feel He is not powerful anymore because He hasn't done what we wanted Him to or what we thought He should do for us. During these times we must learn to step back and think about the awesome miracles of God. He has done enough wonderful miracles that if He never did another one, He is still worthy to be praised! We need to step back and pay attention to who God is and realize that we are so small compared to Him. He could wipe us out with a word. Take time today to think about the greatness of God. It will help you see through the trouble of the day!
Prayer:
Lord, show me You glory! Show me the awesomeness of Your power. I want to know you as Paul did, "in the fellowship of Your suffering and in the power of Your resurrection". I choose today to pay attention to who You are. nothing is too difficult for You! You are above all other gods! Your kingdom is eternal and You have all authority in heaven and earth! You are matchless and Your miracles are awesome! I love You!

His Eye is on You!
Scripture:
Job 36:7 "He does not withdrawal His eyes from the righteous; But they are on the throne with kings, for He has seated them forever, And they are exalted".
Observation:
Elihu speaks to Job and is talking about the Lord our God. He says, "He does not withdrawal His eyes from the righteous". God is always looking at the righteous. They are His children. He loves to watch over them. He seats them on thrones with kings. He takes care of His own.
Application:
Do you really believe that God is looking out for you and that His eyes are on you? Do you really believe that nothing is impossible for Him? If we believe these things, why do we fret when we feel like God isn't listening to our prayers? Why do we get upset when He doesn't seem to do what we think He should do? He has seen every tear. He knows every cry of your heart. He is concerned and keeps a watch out for you at all times if you are one of His. Though you ma be currently going through a storm in life, God is watching over you and will take care of you. His eyes are on the righteous and we are made righteous by the blood of Jesus Christ. Trust Him today. Be affirmed and know that He is with you, whether you feel like He is or not. Remember that feelings are liars and the Word of God is truth. Know that He is watching over you today.
Prayer:
Lord, let us be ever cognizant of Your awesome presence and know that your eyes are always on the righteous. Teach me to trust You more. You are dependable and I know that You love me with an everlasting love that never runs dry. Thank You for Your love, grace and mercy You have bestowed on my life. You are the best!

A Covenant with My Eyes
Scripture:
Job 31:1 "I have made a covenant with my eyes; Why then should I look upon a young woman?"
Observation:
Job wanted to live an upright life and as he was defending himself before God and man he makes this statement, only found once in the bible. He says, "I have made a covenant with my eyes". Job's desire for integrity in every area of life caused him to do something nobody else we see in scripture doing. He made a covenant with his eyes to keep them from looking at a young woman.
Application:
Many men struggle with looking at young women. It is one of the biggest strongholds in men's lives, yet here we see a man who took it serious enough that he made a covenant with his eyes. He was proactive with tendency toward sin. He made a decision before temptation came so that the temptation would not be as effective. Every man needs to make a covenant with his eyes to keep them from straying and looking at women in a wrong way.
Prayer:
Lord, keep me from the temptation to look at young women. As we have been saying in Cleansing Stream"body, submit to my soul; soul, submit to my spirit; spirit, submit to the Spirit of God. Keep my eyes from wandering and keep me focused on You. You are my strength and my redeemer, You are my light and my salvation. I love You Lord.

The Value of Wisdom
Scripture:
Job 28:17 "Wisdom is more valuable than gold and crystal. It cannot be purchased with jewels mounted in fine gold".
Observation:
Job is speaking about wisdom and understanding in this chapter. Here he talks about the value of wisdom. He has heard his friends speak and doesn't think they have used much wisdom. Here he speaks of just how valuable wisdom is.
Application:
Wisdom is so incredibly important in our lives. We should look for it, discover it, seek for it and then value it when it comes by applying it to our lives. Wisdom will cause you to make the right decisions. It can be found in the people who have lived a long life and seen many ups and downs. Wisdom usually moves slower that excitement, but has a more stable and mature path. Wisdom will keep you going the right way when everything in you wants to go the wrong way. The way of the wise is prosperous! Seek for wisdom and you will find prosperity, health, joy, discipline, peace and everything else you need to live a godly long life. Once we receive wisdom, we must apply it to our lives. Many times we know what to do, but have a hard time doing it.
Prayer:
Father, I want to walk with the wise in my family, finances, faith and future. I want to live a life of wisdom and obedience. Teach me to seek wisdom on every area of my life, then give me the discipline to do the right things. Wisdom is valuable to me as I get older. Help me walk out the wisdom you give me. Place wise people in my life I pray that will help teach me wisdom. IT IS VALUABLE!

Pure as Gold
Scripture:
Job 23:9-10 "I do not see him in the north, for he is hidden. I look to the south, but he is concealed. But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold".
Observation:
Job is replying to his friends that during this time he is not able to see God. He can't seem to hear his voice. Everywhere he looks for God, he can't find Him. Yet even when his life was going terrible, Job says, "but he knows where I am going". Job trusted that God knew where he was and where he was going. Because he knew God, he was able to stay strong during the test and he knew he would come out as pure as gold.
Application:
Sometimes it is difficult to see God's hand when we are going through difficult times. We look for him and can't seem to find him. We listen for His voice, yet feel He is not speaking. It is in these times we need to be like Job and live right no matter what we feel. We must not live by feelings, but by faith. Many times God will feel distant and we won't know what to do. In those times, be faithful and live right, knowing that He does see and it is only a test. When the test is done, you want to come out as pure gold.
Prayer:
Lord, let me be strong when I don't see Your hand. Teach me to live right when it feels that you are distant. I want to pass every test that comes into my life. Help me to be found faithful when times are good and when times are bad. You are awesome and I love you more every day!

Who Can Teach a Lesson to God?
Scripture:
Job 21:22 "But who can teach a lesson to God, since He judges even the most powerful?
Observation:
Job continues to suffer and his friends keep looking for the sin in his life. They are telling him to quit talking about God in a negative way. He continues to complain about God and why He does the things he does. He has just spent time talking about why God lets the wicked prosper and evil people have prosperity. He then says, "who can teach God a lesson?"
Application:
Many times when we are going through hard times, we want to teach God a lesson and tell Him what He needs to do in order to get us out of the mess we created for ourselves. We are good at telling God what He needs to do. We figure out what we need Him to do, then petition Him for it. If God judges the most powerful of the earth, who are we to tell Him what He must do in any given situation? God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. He wants us to be in a place where we cry out to Him and ask Him to take control. We must be the people who sincerely come to Him, not telling Him what He must do, but asking Him what we must do, then listening to His loving voice.
Prayer:
Lord, who are we to question You? Why do I feel I have the right to know why everything happens that happens? Teach me to trust You in every part of life. When I don't understand what You are doing, help me to trust You. I want to rely fully upon You. You are my rock and my fortress, in You I will trust. I need You more than life itself. Help me not to question, but to listen for direction. I need Your direction daily! Thank You for speaking this into my heart today.

Gain Understanding
Scripture:
Job 18:2 "How long till you put an end to words? Gain understanding, and afterward we will speak."
Observation:
Job has been complaining about how God has been treating him and Bildad is trying to help him. In the process, he makes a comment that has a lot of wisdom. He tells Job to quit talking, gain understanding, then let's talk.
Application:
Many times we get caught up in saying too much. When things are not going right, we tend to want to tell people off, speak our minds, and let them know what we think. The problem is that our words are powerful. "Death and life are in the power of the tongue". God gave us two ears and one mouth. Maybe we should take a hint and learn that we don't have to speak everything that comes to mind all the time. Wise people are quiet and speak little, but when they speak, it is with authority and always powerful. We need to take Bildad's council and get understanding before we speak too much. Usually if we would wait until we have understanding fully of the situation at hand, we would speak differently. We must train ourselves to count the cost of our words, get understanding before we speak, and then speak purposefully. Bite the tongue when needed.
Prayer:
Lord, our tongues get us in more trouble than any other part of the body. Help me to get understanding prior to speaking. Teach me not to speak too early on a subject, but to refrain until I have all the information and understanding. Forgive me for allowing my tongue to say too much at times. Help me to make my YES, YES and my NO, NO. Help me to count my words and make them count.
Thanks for Speaking to me Today!

Empty Riches
Scripture:
Job 15:31 "Let them no longer fool themselves by trusting in empty riches, for emptiness will be their only reward".
Observation:
Eliphaz is speaking to Job and talking about the evil person and the good person. He says of he evil person that they "trust in empty riches". He says of them that "emptiness will be their only reward". So many times Scripture shows a contrast of opposites. If you want to be the greatest, serve all. The least will be exalted. Give and it will be given to you. The reward of empty riches is "emptiness". What did fill you, will be nothing but emptiness. Only Jesus can satisfy, riches and great wealth may help temporarily, but it will waste away and be of no value. Only what we do for Christ will last.
Application:
Why do we spend so much time trying to get wealthy? Why do people work their entire lives to get to the place of wealth? "Empty Riches" is a great picture of what wealth does for people. It leaved them feeling empty. Most people who have worked hard to obtain wealth feel unsatisfied when they get it and they realize the most important things in life are people. May God help us to focus on what is eternal and not spend so much time pursuing something that is empty.
Prayer:
Lord, keep me focused on winning souls and making disciples. Teach me to do this well. Show me how to do it best. Value is found in a soul, not in a house, car or anything else. Teach me the value of a soul. Help me to not get sidetracked in life by the pursuit of things.
Love,
Jeff

No Limits
Scripture:
Job 11:7 "Can you search out the deep things of God? Can you find out the limits of the Almighty?"
Observation:
Zophar is coming to Job asking him to search out God's wisdom and understand why these things are happening to him. In the process, he makes this one statement that is so profound. He asks the question: Are we able to search out the deep things of God? and Can you find the limits of the Almighty? These questions are awesome to think about. We are finite beings and it is extremely difficult for us to comprehend infinity and a God who has "all power".
Application:
If God is so big we can't find His limits and so awesome we can't search out His depth, then why is it so hard to trust Him. He is infinitely more capable of helping me that of me helping Him. He knows more than I will ever know. Sometimes we ask God to bless what we are doing, instead of asking Him what we should be doing. If He is infinite in knowledge and infinite in power, why not just trust that He knows best? Our goal should be to know Him more and to hear His voice as clearly as possible, what ever stops that, needs to go from our lives. His wisdom is infinite, yet we must be in that place to hear it from Him.
Prayer:
Lord, You are amazing! Your greatness exceeds the heavens and you are above every other being. I could never find You limits, because there are none. I cannot even comprehend just how powerful You are. I want to know You more. I want to hear Your voice clearly. I want to lean on You and not on my own understanding. Show me how to trust You more. When I try to imagine Your glory, it is beyond words. I cannot express my love for You.

Laughter will come again!
Scripture:
Job 8:21 "He will once again fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy".
Observation:
Job's friend Bildad was comforting him and trying to be an encouragement to him. He gives Job confidence by sharing the nature and character of God with him. He tells Job, "God will not reject a person of integrity...He will once again fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy". Many times in Scripture we see that God brings joy and shouts. Wherever Jesus and the apostles went, there was "great joy" in the city.
Application:
God loves to bring joy to His people and wants us to be people characterized by joy. Life sometimes gets difficult and we are like Job, wishing it were over or we had never been born, but our God is the restorer of joy to His people. No matter what you are going through at this time, if you don't grow weary in well doing, you will laugh again. It may not seem like it today, but you will shout for joy one day if you don't give up too soon. Hold on, joy comes in the morning! When life gets you down, look up, there is a God who restores joy to His people.
Prayer:
Lord, I have been kind of down lately. Today You have spoken to me and given me hope through Your word that joy and laughter will come again. Help me not to get so wrapped up i the problems that I lose sight of You and Your joy. I want to walk in the joy and peace of the Lord. Teach me to relax and enjoy life again. Show me how to cast my care on You. I know You care for me. I look forward to shouting a victory shout and laughing a joyful laugh again soon.
I Love You, thanks for loving me and giving me hope today,

Have You Noticed My Servant?
Scripture:
Job 1:8 "The the Lord asked Satan, 'Have you noticed my servant Job? he is the finest man in all the earth. he is blameless - a man of complete integrity. He fears God and stays away from evil'".
Observation:
God was having His heavenly court and he speaks to Satan who had been roaming the earth checking out everything going on. He asks Satan a question, "Have you noticed my servant Job?" He goes on to talk about Job and his reputation was amazing. Job had a reputation in heaven and with Satan. He had a reputation of being a devout man who feared God and ran away from evil.
Application:
I have to ask myself the question, "am I living a life that would make God say, 'have you considered my servant Jeff?'" Do I have a reputation in heaven and in hell? Have I lived a life that makes heaven rejoice and hell shutter? I think it would be amazing to be known by Satan as someone who is a threat to his kingdom. In the NT we hear of demons saying, Paul I know and Jesus I know, but who are you? Is your name known in hell? Has God noticed how you live? Has Satan noticed how you live? Is the way we are living today making us known in heaven and in hell? Wow, these are hard questions to ask. I want my name known in heaven, on earth and under the earth.
Prayer:
Lord, I realize that I haven't lived up to this passage in my life. I want to live a life that would make You proud and Satan scared. I ask You to help me live totally sold out to You and Your purposes. I want my life to be noticed by my God. Teach me to obey You better. Forgive me for my halfheartedness. Allow me to become more life You every day.
I Love You Lord,
Jeff

He goes on to talk about Job and his reputation was amazing.

We Shall Reap!
Scripture:
Galatians 6:9 "And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart".
Observation:
Paul is talking about sowing and reaping, which has been a principle since the beginning of time. In this passage he tells the Galatians not to grow weary while doing good, because there will be a day of harvest if you don't lose heart.
Application:
I am convinced that we sometimes miss our blessing and our harvest because we grow weary and lose heart in what we are doing. Sometimes we just simply give up too soon, thus missing the reward of our labor. Paul had been shipwrecked, stoned and left for dead, run out of town, persecuted in every way and is telling others, "hold on...your harvest is coming". I don't want to give up before God is finished in a situation. If the farmer gave up when he saw only a little bud coming through the ground, he would never see the day of harvest. There is a time between seed time and harvest, the problem is that we don't know how long that period is. If God has spoken something to your heart, hold on through thick and thin to your dream and God's desire will come to pass in due season. Just know that "due season" will come.
Prayer:
Lord, give me strength to do what You have called me to do. Help me not grow weary and lose heart while waiting for the completion of the vision You have given me. Help me to stay focused on why You sent me and not worry about if things are where I want them to be at any certain time. Help me take my hands off, do what You speak to me, and leave the rest to You. Give me courage to speak to those who oppose and don't want to wait for the day of harvest. I know "due season" is coming in my life, help me deal with those who don't see it. Keep me stirred up when I don't see the results I want to see, when I want to see them.

The Crucified Life
Scripture:
Galatians 2:20 "I am crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me".
Observation:
Paul is writing to the Galatians about returning to the Law after being set free through Jesus Christ. In verse 19 he says, "For I through the Law died to the law that I might live to God". He is basically saying that now it is no longer about him because he died with Christ and now lives according through Christ and in Christ. This turns the focus from us being holy to Christ being holy and us living in His holiness. Jesus loves us and gave Himself for us, now we must live the crucified life and allow the power of the resurrection to be at work in us.
Application:
We can't be holy apart from Jesus Christ. We can't obey the Law in our flesh. This entire battle is a spirit battle and must be won in the spirit. The only way for this to happen is death. Paul said we were crucified with Christ. The old man died when we came to Christ. The new man is covered in God's holiness and righteousness that we can't earn or deserve. We must live by faith and stop beating ourselves up every time we mess up a little. We must truly believe that Christ paid the penalty for our sins and that we have resurrected with Him and have power over sin in our lives. We don't have to live as a slave to sin, because we died. We don't have to live as a slave to sin because now it is not about us, but about Christ and what He did. He has victory over sin, therefore I have victory over sin! WOW that's good stuff!
Prayer:
Lord, teach me to live the crucified life. Teach me to die daily to my own thoughts, perspectives and ideas. Help me to walk in the power of the resurrection and walk above the sin that wants to entangle. Make me a man of God who walks not after the flesh but after the Spirit. Help me to live in and through You, to have the mind of Christ in every area of life. Let my thoughts be Your thoughts. Let me see life the way You see it. You are the best!

The Power of Joy and Peace
Scripture:
Romans 15:13 "I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit".
Observation:
Paul reveals a powerful secret of the Kingdom in this verse. He tells the Romans that he prays God will fill them with joy and peace because they trust Him. Joy and peace apparently only come through trust. When you really trust God on something, you will have confident peace and there will be joy because you know God is in control. he goes on to say that when we have joy and peace from God, we will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Confident hope comes from having joy and peace through the power of the Holy Spirit and fully trusting God.
Application:
Stress and anxiety are probably the two strongest things our society is dealing with. Stress and anxiety come from feeling you are out of control and have no control of your life, plans, or future. They destroy you emotionally, physically and spiritually. Trusting in God brings us from stress and anxiety into joy and peace, which lead us to confident hope through the Holy Spirit. Because there are times when God hasn't answered our prayers like we thought he should, we sometimes tend to take back the trust we are suppose to give Him. We trust ourselves and it is very difficult to trust someone else, especially when you can't see them. We must learn to trust God and His word and walk in faith, believing that He is, and He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Prayer:
Lord, I want to be full of confident hope in You. I want to be filled with joy and peace, which only come from trusting You. Teach me to trust You more. I want to lean upon You in every area of my life and trust You more each day. I want to move above stress and anxiety and believe that You will take care of me. I'm not doing real good at this right now and need Your help. Thank You for giving me confident hope this morning in my prayer time and a vision and how to implement it. Give me the strength to do what I know needs done.

The Armor of Right Living
Scripture:
Romans 13:12 "The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living".
Observation:
Paul is telling the Romans that the end is close and we need now to live as if Jesus were coming back today. He tells them to wake up, the night is almost gone. Because of the nearness of the return of Christ, he tells them to take off wrong living like dirty clothes and put on the armor of right living.
Application:
As we are now closer to the return of Jesus Christ, we must take off the old clothing that is stained with sin and wrong behavior. We must prepare ourselves for the coming of our King. Often in Scripture we are compared to a bride preparing herself for her wedding. In this case, Paul says to put on the armor of right living. Right living will protect you like an armor if you wear it. Right living will keep you out of trouble and in a place of blessing. When you are living right, you don't have to be afraid of being caught doing anything, because there is nothing to hide from anyone. Holy living as we approach the coming of the Son of Man, is the only way to live. get rid of sin and weight in your life and turn to Jesus with all your heart. Put on right living as your protective armor.
Prayer:
Lord, Help me to be ready when You come back. I want to live a life that brings You glory. I want to be protected from every plan and attack of the enemy. I want to live for You in righteousness and holiness. I need Your protection and realize it comes with right living. Convict my heart of any area that may not be right. Check my heart and show me truth. If there is anything in me that needs changed, please show me. I want Your fullness in my life.

The Blessing of Abraham
Scripture:
Romans 11:17 "So now you also receive the blessing God has promised Abraham and his children, sharing in the rich nourishment from the root of God's special olive tree".
Observation:
Paul is talking to the Roman Christians about the difference between Jews and Gentiles in God's sight. In chapter 11-12 God is showing the gentiles that they should be glad and very humble because they have been allowed into the place of God's blessing. He also makes it clear that the promises were made to Israel and that they will be grafted back into the tree when the fullness of the Gentiles comes in. Here he says that we as Gentiles have received the blessing God promised to Abraham. This blessing is incredible and has been promised to us, but we don't truly believe it.
Application:
If we have been grafted into God's olive tree and received the blessing promised to Abraham, then we can expect all the promises to Israel in the Old Covenant, to be ours also. We have the same root system and are now grafted in. What an incredible honor that we don't deserve. We have been chosen of God and allowed into something awesome that we don't deserve. We should live lives that make the Jews jealous of our relationship with God. We should be showing them how great God is. I want my eyes open to actually live as a child of God, walking in the blessing of Abraham, which was fantastic. God has given us a great inheritance, but we have not lived up to it.
Prayer:
Father, thank you for adopting me into Your family and making me a descendant of Abraham. Teach me to walk in the blessings of Abraham. I feel so honored this morning that You have chosen to allow me into Your promises to Abraham. Teach me how to live in such a way that the promises become part of my life. You are amazing and Your love is incredible. Thank You for grafting me in and allowing me to be part of Your holy family.

Undeserved Privilege
Scripture
Romans 5:2 "Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege, where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God's glory".
Observation:
Our entire reading today is a discourse from Paul to the Romans about Law and Grace. He is basically saying that faith, not works or abiding by the Law, is what is going to save you. As he is talking about this, he uses the words, "undeserved privilege", which jumped off the page at me. We don't deserve God's favor, but He has chosen to give it to us. We could never be good enough to get to heaven when we die, but He has made a way for us. We could never fulfill the Law completely, but Jesus did on our behalf. He gave us privilege we don't deserve and cannot earn.
Application:
Paul says because of this privilege we now stand looking confidently and joyfully forward to sharing God's glory. Jesus has done so much for us and we don't deserve any of it. We can't be good enough to impress Him because His Laws are too difficult for us, yet He has chosen to give us undeserved privilege. Because of this, we should live confidently and joyfully. We need to come to the place of joy and confidence in Christ, where we understand fully what he has done, appreciate it, and live accordingly. If we had been given a million dollars, hopefully we wouldn't blow it, but would be careful to allow it to be used for it's greatest good. God has given us awesome privilege, let's use it to follow His closer than ever before.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your "undeserved privilege". Thank You for calling me Your son, though I don't deserve it. Help me to demonstrate "undeserved privilege" to those who You put around me on a daily basis. Help me to treat people like You treat me. Teach me to live confidently and joyfully, knowing the true love of my Father. You are amazing! Thank You for choosing to give me grace instead of judgment!

The Power of God
Scripture:
Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes - the Jew first and also the Gentile".
Observation:
Paul is speaking to the Romans about bringing them the Good News. Just prior to this he says he feels he has a great obligation to get the message of the Good News to the entire world. Though he had been imprisoned, in trouble, in fierce persecutions, he was not ashamed of the Good News of Jesus because it is the power of God at work. The Good News = The Power of God at work.
Application:
Paul let's us know that the Good News is the power of God at work. Anytime we share the Good News with someone, the power of God is at work in that person. If we could just really believe this, we would be so much more prone to witness and share the Good News. The world is looking for something real and someone who can forgive their sins and make them feel better inside. When we share the Good News, God's power begin to work in that person. The Good News = the Power of God. I love it! Share the Good News and you are sharing something incredibly powerful. Share the Good News!
Prayer:
Lord, let me never be ashamed of the Good News of Christ. Let me carry this Good News to the ends of the earth. Help me prepare an army of Good News carriers who can fulfill the Great Commission You gave us. I want to see Your power and realize it is seen the greatest when the Good News is being shared. Work You will in my life and let me produce fruit that will last for Your kingdom.

Divine Reversals II
Scripture:
Esther 9:1 "On that day, the enemies of the Jews had hoped to overpower them, but quite the opposite happened. it was the Jews who overpowered their enemies".
Observation:
On the same day the annihilation of the Jews was planned for, the Jews were given permission to kill anyone they wanted to. The favor of God was resting on Esther and Mordecai to the point that their enemies were scared to death of them. Whatever they told the king was done for them. God took what was meant for bad, turned it into something good and used the same day mean to be a curse and turned it into a day of blessing for His people.
Application:
There is nothing too difficult for God. he is omnipotent, the all-powerful God. he will not be mocked by arrogant little humans He created. When He decides to turn the tables and you see His vengeance, everyone sees the awesomeness of God. He said, "vengeance is mine, I will repay". When things are going bad in your life, don't get a revengeful spirit. Rather, remain and grow stronger in your walk with God and let Him take revenge for you. John Bevere says that once we take revenge, we stop God from taking His vengeance. I would rather y enemies fall into God's hands than mine anyway. Trust God and know He can turn around the worst of problems.
Prayer:
Open my eyes to see You as You are. You are the all-powerful God of the universe. There is nothing too difficult for You. You alone deserve all praise and glory. You are amazing and I am blessed to be called Your son. Thank You for caring for me. Thanks for divine reversals. Help me trust You more each day. I love You.

Divine Reversals
Scripture:
Esther 8:15 "Then Mordecai left the king's presence, wearing a royal robe of blue and white, the great crown of gold, and an outer cloak of fine linen and purple. And the people of Susa celebrated the new decree".
Observation:
Mordecai was the one Haman hated more than anyone. Haman had wanted to have all the Jews killed because of his hatred of Mordecai. Haman built a massive sharpened pole 75 foot high to have Mordecai impaled upon. When God was finished with the situation, Haman was impaled on the pole he built for Mordecai and Mordecai was honored by the king and became one of the most powerful people in the Kingdom.
Application:
Divine reversals are always awesome to watch. God can take a situation that looks totally helpless and turn it around for His glory and your benefit. He is the master of taking what was meant for evil and using it for good! Sometimes we wonder why we have to go through some of the bad times of life, but God always has a plan that will bring Him glory. Sometimes we want the blessing with out the trials, but the trials confirm your trust in the Lord so the blessing can come.
Prayer:
Lord, I love it when You turn situations that look hopeless around. You know we have been in a difficult time financially. I am looking for a divine reversal and for the blessing of God to be poured out on my life. I love You and will worship You with all my heart while I'm waiting for the breakthrough. Turn it around like You are an expert at doing. I will give You all the praise!
Jeff

Faith
Scripture:
Esther 4:14 "If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die".
Observation:
Mordecai was sending word to Esther about the coming destruction of her people the Jews. In this statement you hear Mordecai's statement great faith. In the middle of telling about the coming of the Jews and Esther being killed, he says, "deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from another place". Here you see perfect trust in God. He is basically saying, "I know we are going to be saved, but if you don't do something, God will use someone else and you may die in the process".
Application:
May our trust and faith in God be to such a degree that we know, "even if all Hell is breaking loose, I will be delivered, God just may have to use some other means than what I thought". basically he is saying that he knows God will deliver, how He will deliver and through whom He will deliver may not be what we thought, but I know He will deliver. This is real trust! Knowing, based on God's character, that He will take care of you, even when things look really bad!
Prayer:
Lord, teach us to walk in faith (absolute trust and obedience to You), no matter what comes our way. When things look terrible around us, may we have the type of faith that says, "I know things look really bad, but I know God will take care of me". Bring me into the level of trust that I know the heart and character of God and know His word well enough to know He will take care of me.
I Love You Lord,
Jeff

God's Favor
Scripture:
Esther 2:9 "Hegai was very impressed with Esther and treated her kindly. He quickly ordered a special menu for her and provided her with beauty treatments. He also assigned her seven maids specially chosen from the king's palace, and he moved her and her maids into the best place in the harem".
Observation:
Esther was quickly brought to the top of the running because the favor of God was on her. God knew before the foundation of the world that He would need someone to rescue the Jews at the right time and he place His favor on Esther so she would be in a position to make a difference. With this favor, she was treated differently than all the other women who were brought before the king. She was given special, preferential treatment.
Application:
God places people in positions for His will to be accomplished. When God's favor is on someones life and He has a plan for them, every obstacle in the world can come against them and they will overcome and be blessed. When God's favor is upon your life, you will rise to the top and be blessed even when you don't deserve it. We should pray and ask God for His favor to be on our lives.
Prayer:
Lord, let Your favor be on my life. I want to walk in the place of divine favor. When Your favor is on a life, it is incredible. I know You have called me, but today I ask for Your favor in my home, my church, my ministry and every area of life.
Thank You Daddy,
Jeff

The God of Reversals
Scripture:
Nehemiah 13:2 "because they had not met the children of Israel with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them. However, our God turned the curse into a blessing".
Observation:
Nehemiah is remembering the story of Balaam and makes a statement that is worth listening to. He says "However, our God turned the curse into a blessing". God is able to break and reverse any curse that has ever been spoken!
Application:
Sometimes people get so worried about curses operating in their lives that they can't focus on what God has for them. God is the curse breaker!!! No curse can stand when He is in control. He is able to take the worst curses and not only get rid of them, but turn them into blessings! I love it. God takes the bad things of our lives and uses them for the greatest good. He takes our junk and mess ups and uses them for His glory. There is nothing God cannot reverse. No problem is too difficult for Him. No mountain that cannot be moved. Jesus became a curse for us so that we could have the blessing of God on our lives. Don't allow the curses of the past to control your future. God can reverse them!
Prayer:
Lord teach us to live knowing that our God can turn around any situation and bring good results. Help us realize that "all things work together for good to him who loves the Lord". Help us not to live under curses that have already been reversed on the cross of Calvary. Teach me to live above and not beneath. I want to walk in the victory I know was purchased for me. God of reversals, You are AWESOME!

Outstanding Men
Scripture:
Nehemiah 11:6 "There were 468 descendants of Perez who lived in Jerusalem - all outstanding men".
Observation:
Sometimes when we read through lists of people in the Bible, we skim and miss some good nuggets of truth listed. Here in Nehemiah 11, is a simple list of people who had been chosen by casting lots to live in Jerusalem. When it comes to Perez, it says his descendants were all "outstanding men".
Application:
When you have 468 descendants and they are all outstanding men, you have accomplished something great in life. Somehow this guy was blessed with wisdom in raising excellent children, and that wisdom was passed down from generation to generation. Usually, when something like this happens it is because the first generation, or Perez, had a walk with God that was very real. I believe for generations to be blessed like this, there must be a source of an extremely real walk with God. Many can live it in church, and some do good at home most of the time, but the real I'm talking about is the real that makes your children say, "I want to be like you when I grow up". I want my children and my children's children to be "outstanding men" and I realize it only comes from them seeing with their own eyes a REAL man of God who loves God and loves his family.
Prayer:
Lord, I want my children to be "outstanding men" when they grow up. Help me to live a life of discipline and set an example for them of what it means to be a real man of God. Let my light shine to my own children so that they will never want to stray away because the goodness of God and their father is sooo good. Help me to be a man like Perez who raised "outstanding men". Teach me how to interact with my boys. Show me how to communicate with them and how to discipline them so that they end up loving God and being excellent in every area of life.
You're the best,

Real Life is in Obedience
Scripture:
Nehemiah 9:29 "They did not follow your regulations, by which people will find life if only they obey".
Observation:
This passage is part of a prayer prayed by the people as they were rededicating themselves to following the Lord. They had realized that only in serving the Lord completely would they experience real life.
Application:
Many people feel that the word of God is so restricting that they want nothing to do with it. They feel like serving the Lord is such a pain because there are so many things they are not allowed to do according to the Law. The truth is that only in obedience to God's laws and ways are people going to find real life. God is the giver of life and every good and perfect gift comes from Him. He knows best how to make life great, but this secret is hidden from those who don't believe. Partial obedience doesn't work, delayed obedience doesn't work, only full obedience brings the blessing of God. Real life is found in following the Lord fully and obeying His commands. Obey and live a great life!!!!
Prayer:
Lord, help me to follow You with all my heart and to "fully" obey Your word in every area. When You speak to me, help me obey completely and leave nothing You say undone. I want to LIVE life to the fullest and I see that is only possible when I walk in complete obedience. Teach me more every day as I try to serve You with all my heart.
Yours,
Jeff

When God Does the Work
Scripture:
Nehemiah 6:16 "And it happened, when all our enemies heard of it, and all the nations around saw all these things, that they were very disheartened in their own eyes; for they perceived that this work was done by our God".
Observation:
The wall Nehemiah had wanted to build was not only built in 52 days, but it was very strong! God's people worked together to accomplish something great and He came along and blessed their efforts. Everyone around knew this was humanly impossible. Everyone knew there was divine intervention and it scared them.
Application:
When we accomplish things in life, people should look and know, with out their God, that was impossible. We want to be in the place where the things we are doing for God are so great that only God can accomplish them. It was evident in this story that their God had done the work. The people worked hard, but God got the glory. That's the way it's suppose to be. WE like to get the glory and tell everyone how hard we worked, but God wants to receive the glory for whatever we accomplish here on this earth. I want to see God work in a way that is undeniably God. I want to see Him do things that nobody can argue with. I want to see God's fame grow in the earth because of the things His people are accomplishing.
Prayer:
Lord, don't let me shy away from attempting great things for Your name. When Word of Life is fully accomplishing it's vision, let people have to say, "it must have been God". There is no way those things are possible without divine intervention. I give you my church, my life and my family and ask that You be glorified in each of them. Work in my life to the place where people can't help but say, "God is on his side". I love serving You Lord. You are amazing! Teach me how to accomplish these things in Jesus name.

Speaking in Faith
Scripture:
Nehemiah 2:20 "So I answered them, and said to them, 'The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build, but you have no heritage or right or memorial in Jerusalem'".
Observation:
Nehemiah had just seen Jerusalem with it's walls destroyed and gates burned. He cries out to the Lord and gathers the people together and challenges them to rebuild the walls of the city. They agree and say, "let us arise and build". Immediately the enemy comes through Sanballat and Tobiah and says basically, "who do you think you are and how will you accomplish this task?" Nehemiah responds with words of faith, "The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build".
Application:
Nehemiah responds to the threats of the enemy with a prophetic word of God's blessings. He knows in his heart that he is about the Father's business and that God will see them through because where God guides, He provides. Nehemiah speaks words of faith. Though he couldn't know all the details of how they would get the job done, he knew that God had spoken to him about rebuilding. He was standing on the word of the Lord and, though he couldn't see the answer, he spoke it anyway. "God will prosper us" are powerful words of faith. May we begin to believe that God is going to prosper us and if God calls us to do something, He will make it happen no matter what the skeptics think.
Prayer:
Lord, teach me to be more faith-filled in my response to the enemy. Teach me to overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of my testimony. Show me how to speak Your word with conviction and authority. I want to know You more and to see You for who You are! I want to know the power of Your resurrection and the fellowship of Your sufferings. Keep me on the faith side of life where I am always believing You for something new and fresh. Keep me talking right and convict me when my speech gets out of line with You word.
I Love You Lord,
Jeff
