Unmerited Favor

Scripture:

II Samuel 9:7  "'Don't be afraid', David said to him, 'for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathon.  I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table'".

Observation:

When David became king, he made good on his promise to bless the household of Saul, who had tried desperately to kill David.  He found one remaining person from the household and decided to bless him.  Most kings of that day would have killed every remaining descendant of the previous king, but David decided to bless Saul's descendant.  He demonstrated unmerited favor.

Application:

God has a way of giving unmerited favor to His people.  When we don't deserve it, He comes through and blesses us.  He brings us to his table and feeds us rather than casting us away.  He heals us, blesses us, forgives us, and gives us hope and a future.  God's unmerited favor is incredible.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for reminding me this morning of Your unmerited favor.  Your love is amazing and your faithfulness is incredible.  Help me to demonstrate unmerited favor on those around me as well.

Yours,
Jeff
