Loyalty

Scripture:

II Samuel 23:16  "So the three mighty warriors broke through the Philistine lines, drew water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem and carried it back to David.  But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured it out before the Lord".

Observation:

David told his mighty men that he really wanted a drink of water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem.  His mighty men fought their way through enemy troops, got the water, and brought it back to David.  They weren't doing this at his command, but they heard his desire for a drink from a particular well.  They wanted their leader to have what he wanted and delighted in doing that for him.

Application:

When was the last time we went out of our way to bless someone and give them the desires of their heart?  When was the last time we put our own lives at risk simply to bless someone and give them something that would make them happy.  We should learn from David's mighty men what loyalty really looks like.

Prayer:

Father, help me to take better care of those I serve.  Help me to see people's desires and not only respond to people's demands.  Help me to be one who helps others by blessing them with over the top blessings.

Yours,
Jeff
