Forgotten, but not Forgotten

 Scripture:

“The chief cupbearer, however, did not remember Joseph; he forgot him.  When two full years had passed, Pharaoh had a dream: He was standing by the Nile,”. ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭40:23-41:1 ‭NIV‬‬

Observation:

Joseph had a really long, hard battle with things going wrong and being falsely accused.  He was in prison and interpreted two dreams for some high ranking people who could have rescued him.  He specifically asked them not to forget him and to tell Pharaoh about him.  When their dreams came true, this verse tells us the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph for another two years.

Application:

Sometimes in life, it will seem like God and people have forgotten us.  There will be times when we feel like nothing has gone right in a long time.  Like Joseph, our job is to remain faithful to God and remain a blessing to those around us.  At this point, Joseph’s personal dreams had not come to pass, yet he served and loved God faithfully.  Like Joseph, there will be times when we are forgotten by people and it seems like even God isn’t coming through on His promises, but God never forgets His promises.  We must hold strong on His promises and be faithful until they come to pass.

Prayer:

Father, help me to remain strong and confident while waiting to see some of the things You have spoken over my life.  Help me to faithfully serve Your people and have a great attitude while waiting on the promises.  Teach me to walk by faith and not by sight.

Your Son,

Jeff
