Scripture:
Luke 14:11 "For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted".
Observation:
Jesus had just told a story to His followers about a man giving a feast. He told them when you arrives, don't go sit down at one of the important tables, but go to the lowly tables. You would rather have the higher ups come get you and move you up than to have them come and ask you to move because someone more important was coming.
Application:
The path of humility is always that path that God blesses. I believe humility is one of the greatest outward manifestations of God working in a person. Christ taught much about humility and walked in great humility Himself. The more we walk with Him, the less we need to sit in the high places. The more we walk with Him, the more we don't care about getting honor here on earth. Better humility now than exaltation now and being humbled later.
Prayer:
Lord, You gave us the best example in history of walking in humility. You had everything in heaven and gave it up to come to serve humanity. You came as a servant and walked with the sinners and tax collectors. Help me to walk more like You every day.
Yours,
Jeff
