For the Sake of the Kingdom

Scripture:

Luke 18:29-30  "And He said to them, 'Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who will not receive many times as much at this time and in the age to come, eternal life'".

Observation:

The disciples were asking Jesus about all they had forsaken to follow Him.  His response was the above verse.  He basically tells them that those who forsake things for the purpose of His kingdom, will receive many times more in this life and eternal life after that.  He says that God rewards those who forsake much for the kingdom

Application:

God promises to take care of those who forsake a lot for His kingdom.  He promises that many times more of what they gave up in this life and promises eternal life in the life to come.  Sometimes the price seems high when serving Jesus, but I have never seen the righteous forsaken or His seed begging bread.  God does take care of those who sell out completely for Him.  We must stand on these promises when it seems we have sacrificed too much.

Prayer:

Father, thank you for taking care of me and my family.  You have always provided for us as we have pursued Your purposes and the advancement of Your kingdom.  Help me to keep my eyes on You in the good times and in the bad times, knowing that You will take care of those who have left all to follow You.

Yours,
Jeff
