Scripture:
Deuteronomy 7:22 "The Lord your God will clear away these nations before you little by little; you will not be able to put an end to them quickly, for the wild beasts would grow too numerous for you".
Observation:
God is speaking about entrance into the Promised Land in this verse. As His people enter into it, there will be lots of enemies to conquer. He told them not to try to kick everyone out instantly, but to do it "little by little" because then they would have a wild animal problem. Little by little, they could settle the land and occupy it as they defeated a city.
Application:
God is not against "little by little" growth. The Christian life is not a sprint, but a marathon. He wants us to live in the Promised Land, but also wants us to know that we posses it little by little. As we grow in the Lord, "little by little" we learn His promises, implement His lifestyle, and inherit the promises. God isn't on our time table, He doesn't mind "little by little", but He also doesn't like disobedience. We must follow Him completely. but realize there will be times when we are growing little by little.
Prayer:
Father, help me not to be discouraged with the "little by little" things in life. Help me not to judge success by quick results, but in the little by little. Help me to be the person You want me to be and to see Your blessing in my life little by little.
You are awesome,
Jeff
