Wisdom and Discretion

Scripture:

Luke 20:26  "And they were unable to catch Him in a saying in the presence of the people; and being amazed at His answer, the became silent".

Observation:

The teachers of the Law were continually trying to catch Jesus doing something, or teaching something, wrong, but they couldn't.  Jesus was smooth.  He used wisdom and discretion.  He said exactly what needed to be said at exactly the right time.  He gave them just enough information to make them think, but not enough to cause an early trial and death.

Application:

Jesus told His disciples to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.  He wants us to be wise in our dealing with people like He was.  Just like He knew exactly what to share at what time and to what persons, He wants us to operate the same way.  We should ask God for wisdom as we walk through this life.

Prayer:

Father, let your wisdom flow through me.  Show me how to respond in each situation.  Show me when to speak and when to be silent.  Teach me how to walk in wisdom and discretion.  Let me hear your voice more clearly and act how You would want me to in all situations.

Yours,
Jeff
