Scripture:
“They will forget their shame and all the unfaithfulness they showed toward me when they lived in safety in their land with no one to make them afraid.” Ezekiel 39:26 NIV
Observation:
God speaks through Ezekiel here about Israel’s return to their land after the season of deportation and exile. He says “they will forget their shame and all the unfaithfulness they showed toward me when they lived in safety in their land.” He lets His people know that discipline lasts for a season, but that blessing will come again.
Application:
God’s heart is always for us to return to Him when we have strayed. He desires to bless us immensely, but we have to be in proper alignment with Him in order for it to happen. As we turn our hearts to Him in humility and obedience, He will always respond by taking away the shame of our disgrace and replacing it with blessing. God doesn’t get glory out of our shame. Shame is used to bring us back to God, but is stops there. When we are walking with Him, shame disappears.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for always loving me and sharing Your word with me. Thank You for teaching me Your heart. You are faithful and don’t desire to punish anyone. You simply desire for us to walk according to Your ways so You can then bless us and prosper us. Help me to listen to Your voice and respond at all times. Let me live a life that pleases You and builds Your kingdom. Bless our trip to Dominican Republic this week. Let Your glory cover that nation.
Your Son,
Jeff
