Scripture:
“Aaron saw how excited the people were, so he built an altar in front of the calf. Then he announced, “Tomorrow will be a festival to the Lord!”” Exodus 32:5 NLT
Observation:
Moses had gone up the mountain to meet with the Lord and receive the Ten Commandments. When he came down, he saw that Aaron had made an image of a golden calf. After Aaron made the calf, he “saw how excited the people were, so he built and altar in front of the calf. He then called the people to a festival for the Lord. Aaron saw how excited the people were, and he went wrong.
Application:
We can’t simply look at what makes people happy and excited when we lead them. We must please God first, then deal with mankind as the Lord wants. Sometimes keeping people happy and excited is what pastors try to do. It feels good when everyone is excited about what’s going on. What pleased the people did not please God. We must please God first, then deal with the people. We can’t build churches for God that are there to please people and make them happy. We must build ministries that honor God first and foremost.
Prayer:
Father, I want to build You what You desire. Help me not to look to current trends about how to make people happy with church. Help me not to lead people where they want to go, but where. You want them to go. Help me to. Have You as the priority over the. People’s desires.
Yours Truly,
Jeff
