Until the Time is Right

Scripture:

Song of Solomon 2:7 "Promise me, O women of Jerusalem, by the gazelles and wild deer, not to awaken love until the time is right".

Observation:

This verse is repeated twice in the first three chapters of Song of Solomon. Anything in God's word that is repeated twice is worth looking into. This verse tells us not to awaken love until the time is right.

Application:

The actions and words of Song of Solomon are between a lover and his beloved. It is a very graphic book about romantic love. In the midst of speaking about this romantic relationship, the author tells us not to stir up love until the time is right. So many young people awaken love before marriage. This created more and more problems for them as they get older. May God give us a generation that doesn't awaken love until the time is right.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to be a good parent to my sons. Help me teach them about not awakening love until it is time. Thank you for two great young men who have kept their way pure. May they remain so until marriage. May love not be awakened until the right time.
