God's Power

Scripture:

Isaiah 17:13 "But though they thunder like breakers on a beach, God will silence them, and they will run away. They will flee like chaff scattered by the wind, like a tumbleweed whirling before a storm".

Observation:

In the Old Testament you can see the incredible power of our God. Isaiah is talking about the army of Damascus and how the Lord will cause them to flee away like nothing because of His great power. The enemies of Israel were seen as powerless when God's people cried out to Him. They had seen Him work the miraculous many, many times in Israel's past. They knew that every enemy would be "Blown away" by God's great power.

Application:

Back in the Old Testament, God's people saw Him as incredibly powerful. They knew that if God got involved in the fight, it was a guaranteed victory every time. God is still "all-powerful" and can defeat every enemy. He never changes! We must change the way we view Him. We should have boldness and great confidence because the Lord who defeated Israel's literal foe's over and over again is now ready to fight on our behalf. We simply need to have faith and believe it. His power causes His enemies to flee, but His power is accessed through our faith. We must see Him as Israel did, the God who can defeat every enemy!

Prayer:

Lord, increase my faith. Let me see You in a whole new light. I want to see the day of Your great power. Help me to see things through Your eyes and to live life knowing that my God is all-powerful and that there is nothing impossible when He is on our side.

Your Son,
Jeff
