Declare a holy fast!

Scripture:

Joel 1:14 "Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord".

Observation:

Joel was prophesying about the army that was going to come upon God's people because they had not served Him properly. He summons the nation to a time of fasting and prayer and tells them to weep and wail and cry out to God on behalf of their nation.

Application:

When things get bad in a nation, a city, a subdivision, a family, or in one's individual life, it is probably time to call a holy fast and call out to the Lord. Many times the last things we do is to cry out to God. We try everything else and when nothing works we call out to God. He wants us to call out to Him before we are in trouble. Assemble people to pray and fast before things get bad.

Prayer:

Father, thanks for confirming this 21 days of fasting in my heart. We need to seek You more! Help me to assemble the people and call for a time of fasting and weeping for our region. Give me ideas of how to get more people involved. I want this fast to be an awesome time of seeking You.
