When People Question Your Calling

 Scripture:

“Azariah son of Hoshaiah and Johanan son of Kareah and all the other proud men said to Jeremiah, “You lie! The Lord our God hasn’t forbidden us to go to Egypt!” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭43‬:‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Observation:

Jeremiah continued giving the word of the Lord, even though people were not responding. People were calling him a liar, but he remained faithful to the Lord. The people wanted to hear what they wanted to hear, but he had a message they didn’t want to hear. It must have been difficult for Jeremiah to continue to declare the word of the Lord when nobody was listening and obeying God.

Application:

There will be times when we are called upon to speak things that people don’t want to hear. We must ask ourselves, will I serve God and do what He says, even when the people I’m suppose to lead don’t want to listen? It seems like today, everyone feels they know more and better than the leaders about what the pastor/leader is supposed to be doing. It is difficult to lead people who have their own ideas about what we need to be doing, but God still calls us. We must do what God says above what the people think about us.

Prayer:

Father, give me strength to do everything You call me to do. I want to fulfill everything You have for me. I want to walk in complete obedience. When I struggle because it feels like people don’t want to listen or take part in where You are leading, help me to continue to follow You and do what You say. Teach me to walk like Jeremiah, who told the truth, even when nobody wanted the truth and and hated him for it.

Your Son,

Jeff
