Scripture:
Isaiah 49:13 "Shout for joy, you heavens; rejoice, you earth; burst into song, you mountains! For the Lord comforts His people and will have compassion on His afflicted ones".
Observation:
The Lord, in the context, was talking about the restoration of Israel. They had been deported from their land and God was saying He was going to bring them home. He tells Israel here that He comforts his people and has compassion on His afflicted ones. God allows things to go on in our lives and uses them to teach us, but He always brings us back and has compassion on us.
Application:
God wants us to be assured and happy. He wants us to be confident that no matter what we are going through, we can rejoice and burst into song because of His faithfulness. He will bring us out of whatever we are currently going through. He sees our affliction and won't leave us there. He is a deliverer! He will bring us out of captivity and into freedom. We can go ahead and shout because victory is coming.
Prayer:
Lord, in the difficult times, let me know that You are with me and that You do comfort the afflicted. Help me stay cheerful because You are faithful and will always bring me out. Let me walk in the comfort and compassion of God at all times.
Yours,
Jeff
