Life In His Name

Scripture:

John 20:31 "But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name".

Observation:

John is nearing the end of his Gospel and decides to tell us why he wrote everything he wrote.  He also said that Jesus did many things not recorded in his Gospel.  He said the things he wrote were written for a purpose: "that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name".  John wanted all to have life in the name of Jesus.  He wanted people to read and understand so they could have real life!

Application:

John had a purpose...bringing those who would read his documentary to faith in Christ.  He wanted all to experience the wonderful life of serving Jesus.  As children of God, we should have the same purpose that John had.  We should want our lives to point people to Christ so that they may believe and that believing, they may have life.  Our purpose, causing people to believe so that they may have life in Jesus name.  I want to shine for Jesus today and cause people to believe so they may have life in Him.

Prayer:

Father, I offer myself to You this morning.  Help me point someone to Jesus today so they may have life in You.  Help me to be sensitive to Your Spirit and know who to talk to.  Lead me into God conversations today that will bring life and not death.  I want to expand Your kingdom in every way possible.
