The Source of Our Struggle

Scripture:

Ephesians 6:12 "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms".

Observation:

Paul tells the Ephesians that the source of their struggle is not people, money, God, etc., but against spiritual forces in Satan's control.  He goes on to talk about the armor of God and the need to use it because we have a relentless enemy who wants to destroy our faith.  Paul doesn't say there is no struggle, or that we don't have an enemy.  He makes it clear that the trouble in our lives is coming from the dark side and that we are children of the light.  We do have an enemy!

Application:

The source of our struggle is not our spouse, our health, our money, our education, our children, our boss, etc.  The source of our struggle is the devil.  He has been a thief and a liar from the beginning and he continues his work in the lives of people all over the world.  We must realize the root of our troubles and attack the right entity.  We must put on the full armor of God and go on the attack in the right direction.  If the source of our struggles is the devil, then the source of our strength is the Lord.  WE must run to the Lord, submit to Him and then resist the devil and he will flee.

Prayer:

Lord God Almighty, thanks for the reminder today who the source of my struggles is.  You are incredible and I worship You!  Help me to submit my life more and more to You and to resist the devil more and more.  Help me to fight the right battles with the right enemies.

Yours,
Jeff
