Scripture:
“You will know that I am the Lord, O people of Israel, when I have honored my name by treating you mercifully in spite of your wickedness. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!”” Ezekiel 20:44 NLT
Observation:
God says here that He will honor His name by treating the people of Judah mercifully, even though they were wicked. God considered mercy something that honors His name.
Application:
When we demonstrate mercy, we are demonstrating the goodness of God. He doesn’t give us what we deserve. In spite of our wickedness and failures, He chooses to love us, accept us, and work with us. Mercy is wonderful to receive when we have messed up, but it is hard to give to someone else. Although difficult, mercy honors God.
Prayer:
Father, help me to remember how merciful You have been with me. Let me represent You well in this area. Teach me to walk in your mercy and to demonstrate it to others. You are incredible and have been merciful to me. Help me to show Your mercy as well to those around me.
Your Son,
Jeff
