Scripture:
“This is what the Lord says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord. They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future. They will live in the barren wilderness, in an uninhabited salty land.” Jeremiah 17:5-6 NLT
Observation:
In this passage, the Lord tells us that who who put their trust in mere humans are cursed. They rely on human strength and turn their hearts from God. He says they are like stunted shrubs in the desert with no hope for the future. Barrenness is their future.
Application:
The more we rely on people instead of relying on God, the more we trust man instead of God. We must put our confidence in the Lord and not in our own thoughts or the thoughts and plans of a person. When we start leaning on man, God steps away and lets us go our way. When we continue to seek the Lord for wisdom, He answers and defeats our enemies. We must put our trust in God and not in any person. He alone is worthy of that level of respect.
Prayer:
Lord God Almighty, You are incredible and I love You with all my heart. When I’m in a pinch, I still tend to lean on myself and others. Help me to always look to You for my help and hope. Be my strength and my fortress. Help me to trust You over any and every person in my life. Speak to me. Lead me. Guide me.
Yours Forever,
Jeff
