The Jealousy of the Enemy

Scripture:

Exodus 12:32  "Take your flocks and herds, as you said, and be gone.  Go, but bless me as you leave."

Observation:

Pharaoh had seen God Almighty bring ten plagues on his people.  He had seen the signs and wonders of the God of Israel, yet he wouldn't turn and let God's people go.  Finally, after the last plague and when the entire nation lost their firstborn sons, he let them go saying, "Go, but bless me as you leave".  He knew that he wanted their God to show in him favor.

Application:

God is so powerful he makes our enemies jealous.  Pharaoh was one of the mightiest men in the world at that time and his will was extremely strong in defying Israel's God.  God showed himself stronger to the point where Pharaoh gives in.  He even asks them, after ten plagues and much trouble on his nation, to bless Egypt on their way out.  Even our enemies will be jealous when they see all God does in our lives.

Prayer:

Father, show yourself strong enough in my life that your enemies ask me to bless them.  Demonstrate your power in my generation so that the world will become jealous of those who follow Christ.  Bless Your people so strong that people see your awesomeness and want a blessing as well.

The Heart of God for All Nations

Scripture:

Exodus 7:5  "When I raise my powerful hand and bring out the Israelites, the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord".

Observation:

Here I see God's incredible love for Israel.  He was determined to bring His people out.  He had heard their cries and seen their tears and came down to deliver them out of the hands of the Egyptians.  At the same time, you see God's heart for the Egyptians in the above verse.  He wanted the Egyptians to know that He was the Lord.  It was important to God, not only for the Israelites to see His power, but for the Egyptians to see.

Application:

God's will and desire is for all nations to to see His power and turn to Him.  He wants the knowledge of the glory of the Lord to fill the entire earth.  He wants all nations at the marriage supper of the Lamb.  Therefore, we must get the news of His goodness to the ends of the earth.  We must be part of the His mission on the earth in every way possible.

Prayer:

Father, help me to extend your kingdom throughout the earth by all possible means.  Enable me to carry the Good News of Christ into every kindred, tribe, tongue and nation.  Show the world Your power!  Rise up oh God and demonstrate You awesomeness in my generation.

Yours Forever,
Jeff

Say to the People

Scripture:

Exodus 6:6  "Therefore, say to the people of Israel: 'I am the Lord.  I will free you from your oppression and will rescue you from your slavery in Egypt.  I will redeem you with a powerful arm and great acts of judgment'".

Observation:

God spoke to Moses and told him what to say to the people of Israel who were under Egyptian slavery.  He told Moses to let them know that He was going to set them free, whether they believed it or not, it was going to happen.  Their faith was almost gone, but the Lord promised them He was going to deliver them.  He let them know through Moses what He was about to do.

Application:

Can we be trusted to be the mouthpiece of God?  Can God give us words for people and trust that we will deliver what He says?  Just like in Moses' day, people today are in bondage to many things.  God is telling this generation to "say to the people" that He is God and will set them free.  When He speaks, will we say yes?

Prayer:

Father, help me to always say yes to You.  Let me be your mouthpiece in my generation.  Help me to accurately declare your words to people.  You are the God who sets His people free with a powerful arm and great acts of judgment.  Rise up Oh Lord and demonstrate Your power in my generation.

Your Son,
Jeff

God Sees All

Scripture:

Exodus 3:7  "The Lord said, 'I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and have given heed to their cry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings'".

Observation:

The people of Israel were increasingly being treated worse and worse under Egypt's taskmasters because, under persecution, God's people continued to increase in numbers and in strength.  Egypt made life extremely hard on God's people and finally God felt He needed to do something.  He came to Moses and let him know that God had seen everything that had happened to them and that He was going to get them out of there.

Application:

God sees all!  He sees our afflictions.  He see our troubles.  He knows where we are.  He hears our cries in the night.  If He heard the cry of the people of Israel, He still hears our cries.  He not only hears our cries, but comes down to deliver us at just the right time.  God has seen every mistreatment.  He has seen every time we have been lied to, etc.  God sees all!

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for reminding me this morning that You have seen everything I have ever gone through.  Nothing has passed Your attention and You know every detail of the trials I have had in my life.  You not only hear, but You also deliver.  Thank You for giving me confidence today that You will deliver and bring me through every time.  You are faithful!

Thanks,
Jeff

Zombie Apocalypse

Scripture:

Matthew 27:52-53  "The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many".

Observation:

When Christ resurrected from the dead, death was defeated once and for all.  At His resurrection, many other saints also resurrected and entered the Holy City.  This must have been an incredible sight to everyone.  Today we would call this a zombie apocalypse.  Dead people were alive and walking the streets.  His resurrection was absolutely powerful and guarantees our resurrection and eternal life.

Application:

The resurrection and overthrow of death was so powerful that the saints of old were also resurrected.  we are called to live in the power of the resurrection in the New Testament.  We must realize the power of the resurrection and begin walking in that power.  We must realize that eternity is real and that what we do on this earth affects eternity for us and those around us.

Prayer:

Father, I want to live in the power of Christ's resurrection.  I don't mind the fellowship of His suffering, but I do want to see the resurrection power of God flowing in my life.  Teach me to walk in faith and by the power of the Holy Spirit more and more each day.

An Incredible Attitude

Scripture:

Matthew 26:50  "And Jesus said to him, 'Friend, do what you have come for'.  Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and seized Him".

Observation:

Jesus was in the process of being betrayed by Judas and being arrested and He demonstrated an incredible attitude.  He knew it was all in the Father's will, so He went along with the program.  They came to him with weapons to arrest Him and He asked why they thought they needed them.  He even called Judas "friend" as He was betraying Him.  Incredible attitude!

Application:

When we are falsely accused and treated terribly, how do we respond?  When we are betrayed, do we still call the person "friend" and love them anyway?  It is these attitude in Christ that we should strive for.  He didn't feel as the Son of God that He needed to prove Himself, He simply yielded to the will of the Father.  We tend to try to fight for our rights and demand fairness, Jesus just went with the flow and trusted His Father.

Prayer:

Make me more like Jesus today.  Help me have an incredible attitude when people betray me.  Help me walk in true humility and trust of my Father.  I want to be a fully yielded vessel.  I am Yours Lord.  Work in me to bring about Your will.

Yours,
Jeff

All Things

Scripture:

Matthew 21:22  "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive".

Observation:

Jesus tells His disciples about faith and how that if they only had a little faith, they could say to a mountain to move and be cast into the sea and the mountain would have to move.  Then He adds these words, "and all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive".  He didn't say "some things" or "a few things", He said "ALL THINGS".

Application:

Jesus said "all things", but made one requirement, "BELIEVING".  When we pray, do we really believe?  Jesus made some bold proclamations.  Several times He said things about whatever we pray, or whatever we ask, believing, we will receive.  I need to up my faith level from hoping God will do what I pray for, to believing God will do it.

Prayer:

Father, increase my faith!  I know You are able to do far more than I can imagine, but sometimes I don't think You will actually do it.  Help me to fully believe your words and to walk them out.

Yours,
Jeff

The Power of Agreement

Scripture:

Matthew 18:19  "Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven".

Observation:

In this passage, Jesus tells His disciples some powerful truth that we sometimes miss because we don't fully believe it.  Just before this, He tells them that the greatest in the kingdom is the one who is like a child.  A child simply believes they will get what they ask for.  He tells them that if two of them agree about anything they ask, it will be done for them by the Father.

Application:

As children, we believed that whatever we were told was true and could be trusted.  As adults we learn to be skeptical because we realize that we can't trust everyone and that people lie and things don't always work out like we want them to.  There is incredible power in agreement!  Jesus said it!  We simply need to trust Him and believe it like a child and it will come to pass.  That's much harder to walk out than to say, but we need to move that direction as much as possible.

Prayer:

Father, increase my faith.  Help me trust Your word more and more and to do what it says.  Help me stand in faith against all odds and to know that You will do what You said You would do.  Teach me to fully trust Your word and not just the parts that make sense to me.

Your Son,
Jeff

The Kingdom

Scripture:

Matthew 13:33  "He Spoke another parable to them, 'The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three pecks of flour until it was all leavened'".

Observation:

Jesus was teaching about the kingdom of God using parables or stories to illustrate a point.  In this one, a woman hid leaven in some flour until it was all leavened.  Jesus said that the kingdom of heaven was like this.  When the kingdom gets around stuff that is not of the kingdom, it should change everything around it.

Application:

I like the word hidden in this text because sometimes God hides his children in the midst of a bunch of unbelievers.  The result should be that the unbelievers come under the influence of the kingdom and begin to change.  God has a way of hiding His people among the ungodly through work, sports, education, etc.  His goal is for everything around us to be influenced for the His kingdom.  Believers are called to transform their surroundings.

Prayer:

Father God, let my life be a change agent for your kingdom.  Hide me in places where your glory needs to shine.  Help me use the opportunities You have already given me better for your kingdom.  Let what's in me get into those around me.

Yours Forever,

Jeff

Jesus' Brothers and Sisters

Scripture:

Matthew 12:50  "For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother".

Observation:

The brothers and mother of Jesus were coming through the crowd to see Him.  His disciples told Him they were coming and His response was the above verse.  He said that whoever does God's will is His brother and sister and mother.  Jesus taught that His closest relatives were the people who were doing what His Father wanted them to do.

Application:

Many people want to be close to Jesus, but don't want to do the will of the Father.  We should be people who pursue God's will more than anything else in life.  It is when we are fully committed to the Lord and His will that we are seen as brothers and sisters of Christ.  Closeness with Jesus equals obedience to the Father.

Prayer:

Lord God Almighty, empower me to live a life that is pleasing to You in every area.  I want to do Your will with all my heart.  I want all You have for me in my life.  Open my ears to hear and my eyes to see what You have for me every day.

Yours,
Jeff

Being a Doer of the Word

Scripture:

Matthew 7:21  "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord', will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter".

Observation:

Jesus makes a powerful statement here that we need to keep in our hearts at all times.  He tells us that those who "DO" the will of God will enter the kingdom of heaven, not just everyone who says, "Lord, Lord".  We have to go beyond just believing and calling on the Lord.  Obedience is super important.

Application:

God wants our faith to be put into action.  He wants us to do His will on the earth.  We must step from hearing and even praying, to "DOING" the will of God.  We must ask ourselves today, "what am I doing that God doesn't want me to do and what am I not doing that I know God wants me to do".  It is obedience that is rewarded.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to put your words into action.  Let me live out Your story here on the earth.  Help me to be on Your mission at all times.  Take me deeper in you, especially in the area of obedience.  Help me not just think about your will, but DO it.

Yours,
Jeff

Personal Storage

Scripture:

Matthew 6:19-21  "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also".

Observation:

Jesus is teaching his followers in this context and He basically tells them that storing up treasure here on earth is not valuable, but storing treasure in heaven is incredibly valuable.  He says that where our treasure is, there will we find our heart.  If we treasure things on this earth, then our heart is on earth, if we value the things of heaven and God's kingdom, that is where our heart is.

Application:

Since our heart follows our treasure, we need to do an inventory of our treasure and see where it lies.  I need to evaluate where my heart is and what is most important to me.  Are the things of this earth crowding out the things of God?  Am I seeking to gain more here to bring me happiness, or am I seeking to bring more to heaven for God's happiness?  It's always good to do a value check and see where your heart is.

Prayer:

Father God, let me treasure what You treasure and value what you value.  I want to be completely Yours and have treasure in heaven for eternity.  I love You.  Convict me where I need it and make me more like You.

Love,
Jeff

A Powerful Blessing

Scripture:

Genesis 48:20  "He blessed them that day, saying, 'By you Israel will pronounce blessing, saying, 'May God make you like Ephraim and Manasseh!''  Thus he put Ephraim before Manasseh".

Observation:

As Israel is about to pass away, he blesses his grandsons, the sons of Joseph.  In the blessing, he tells them that one day you will be so blessed that everyone who pronounces blessings will use their names.  He says that people will want their children to be as blessed as Ephraim and Manasseh.  They were to become awesome examples to the people of Israel so that everyone wanted their kids to be like them.

Application:

When we speak over our children, we should speak powerful blessings!  We should speak over them that one day everyone will want to have the blessing on their lives like this person does.  We should speak that they be so blessed that people around them get jealous.  We need to work on speaking blessings and not curses over our children.

Prayer:

Father, help me to bless my children correctly.  May Joshua and Jordan walk with You, follow You and be so blessed that everyone will want the blessing that is on their lives.  May my sons walk in holiness and godliness and be successful in everything they put their hand to.  May their families be blessed beyond measure and may they give glory to God for all of it.

Yours,

Jeff

The Right Attitude

Scripture:

Genesis 45:5  "Now do not be grieved or angry with yourselves, because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life".

Observation:

Joseph had every right to be angry with his brothers and bitter towards them.  They had sold him into slavery because of their jealousy and he spent many many years in terrible situations because of them.  Now he had the opportunity to get back at them and make them pay for his years of suffering, but Joseph says that the entire situation was done by God to preserve their family in a famine.

Application:

If we really trust God and his sovereignty, we must trust that whatever we go through is somehow going to work out for good because He is in control.  We are told in the New Testament that all things work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to his promise.  In our troubles, we must have the right attitude of belief that God is working something out on our behalf.  We may not understand why things happen when they do, but we must trust God that He sees, knows, and has a plan.

Prayer:

Lord, let me have the right attitude when bad things happen.  Help me to see that your hand in on my life and that you always have a plan.  Help me to trust You more each day.  Let me have a gentle spirit with those who put in bad situations, knowing that God allowed it and still has a plan.

Yours Forever,
Jeff

It is Not in Me

Scripture:

Genesis 41:16  "Joseph then answered Pharaoh, saying, 'It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer'".

Observation:

Joseph had interpreted dreams for the chief cup-bearer and the chief baker, both of them had come to pass exactly as he interpreted.  Now Pharaoh needed a couple dreams interpreted and he came to Joseph because he heard Joseph could interpret dreams.  Joseph told Pharaoh that the answer wasn't in him, but in God.  He shifted the attention to God and off himself.

Application:

Anything good in our lives, our skills, talents, gifts, etc. all come from God and are for His glory.  We should live to bring God the glory through them.  As Joseph made sure Pharaoh knew that it was God giving Pharaoh his answer, so we should let people know that anything good in us is from God.  We need to shift the glory to God as much as possible.

Prayer:

Lord God, let my life bring you glory.  Teach me to shift the eyes of people off of me and onto You.  Let Your name be glorified through my life.  Show me how to give you honor for every good thing in my life.

Jeff

Integrity

Scripture:

Genesis 39:23  "The chief jailer did not supervise anything under Joseph's charge because the Lord was with him; and whatever he did, the Lord made to prosper".

Observation:

Joseph was such a man of integrity that his bosses, rulers, etc. never needed to oversee what he was doing.  If he was given a job, they knew it would be done.  He gave them no reason to question his integrity because, if he said he was going to do something, it got done.  His yes was yes and his no was no.  There was also the fact that God was with him and people noticed it.

Application:

As believers, we should be the people with the greatest integrity.  People should never have to question whether we will do what we say we will do.  Our employers should never have to question whether we are being honest or not.  We should also experience the blessing of God's presence being with us so much so that people notice there is something different about us.  We should stand out in a crowd.

Prayer:

Father, let me walk in true integrity and have you walking with me and causing me to prosper.  I want to make You look good.  As I go to serve on jury duty today, let You hand be upon me and let your glory be seen on my life.  Let my life make you look good!

Purify Yourselves and Build an Altar

Scripture:

Genesis 35:2-3  "So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, 'Put away the foreign gods which are among you, and purify yourselves and change your garments; and let us arise and go up to Bethel, and I will make an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me wherever I have gone'".

Observation:

Jacob is now encountering God like his father Isaac and grandfather Abraham.  He knew when God started speaking to him exactly what to do.  God wanted him to build an altar at Bethel, where God had first revealed himself to Jacob.  Jacob knew not to build an altar without also purifying his family.  Prayer and purity go hand in hand.

Application:

During this time of fasting and prayer I continue to be reminded that fasting is about purification of body and spirit.  When you couple purification with prayer, good things happen.  Our continual prayer should be for God to purify us and take out of our lives whatever is not of God.  Couple that with extended times of prayer during this fast and watch what the Lord does.

Prayer:

Father, take out of me everything that is not of You.  Help me to walk in purity and spend more time in prayer.  Separate me for your purposes and help me become the person You want me to be.  You are amazing and I want to serve You well.  Direct my steps and speak to me during this fasting season.

Jeff

Blessing By Relationship

Scripture:

Genesis 30:27  "But Laban said to him, 'If now it pleases you, stay with me; I have divined that the Lord has blessed me on your account'".

Observation:

Joseph had worked for Laban many years.  He was blessed by God with the blessing of his father's Abraham and Isaac.  Laban prospered hugely while Jacob was working for him.  He actually figured out that his prosperity was directly related to his relationship with Jacob and not because of his own works.  He was being blessed simply because Jacob worked for him.

Application:

I believe that God's children should be so blessed that their employers realize that their blessing is simply because they are employing one of God's people.  I believe that God's children should make such a difference in the workplace that their company owners want to serve our God because they realize they are being blessed simply because of relationship with their employee.

Prayer:

Father, bless your people and the companies they work for.  Let the world see the goodness of God and the blessing of God.  Let the world realize that they are being blessed because of God's people and not because of the work of their own hands.  Let your people shine!

Jeff

The Lord Appeared to Him

Scripture:

Genesis 26:24  "The Lord appeared to him the same night and said, 'I am the God of your father Abraham; Do not fear, for I am with you.  I will bless you, and multiply your descendants, For the sake of My servant Abraham'".

Observation:

This passage stood out to me because it said that the Lord appeared to Isaac and spoke to him.  This is common in the Old Testament, especially with the patriarchs.  How incredible it must be for the Lord to appear to you and speak to you as friend with friend.

Application:

Personally, I want the Lord to appear to me and speak as friend to friend.  I want to know Him more.  I want to encounter God as a deeper level during this fast.  I long for Him to speak clearly to me about some things.  I want to encounter Him as Abraham and Isaac did.

Prayer:

Lord God Almighty, teach me to walk with you.  Reveal yourself to me during this time of fasting and prayer.  Appear and speak to me as friend with friend.  I long to know you more and more each day.  I thirst for more of you.  I want to walk with You and talk with You.  I want Your Spirit to flow through me unhindered.

Jeff

Obedience Brings Blessing

Scripture:

Genesis 22:18  "In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice".

Observation:

Abraham was willing to offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice to the Lord.  Without hesitation, when the Lord spoke to him to offer his promised son as a sacrifice to the Lord, Abraham started the process.  Because Abraham obeyed the voice of God, he was blessed and through his seed, we are blessed.  Blessing follows obedience.

Application:

Everyone wants the blessings of Abraham on their lives.  He was blessed beyond measure, wealthy, had miracles happen in his life, etc.   We love to see the blessings on someone's life, but blessing follows obedience.  Usually when you see someone who is strongly blessed by God, they have been obedient in some tough things along the way.  Obedience brings blessing!

Prayer:

Father God, help me to obey your voice and not ask for your blessings without being obedient.  Help me walk in obedience at all times.  I want to walk with you and talk with you daily.  I want to do your will in the earth.  Help me stay on track and do your will.

Yours,
Jeff

Never Too Late

Scripture:

Genesis 21:5  "Now Abraham was one hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him".

Observation:

God had promised Abraham that he would be the father of many nations.  He waited on the promise and finally gave up and had a child by Sarah's maid.  Another period of time went by and God's promise came to pass.  Abraham was one hundred years of age when the son of the promise was born.

Application:

With God it is never too late.  He can do the impossible and time doesn't mean much to Him.  He can give a promised child to a man one hundred years of through a woman ninety years old.  No matter what we go through, we must realize that with God it is never too late.  What seems impossible to the world, is something God specializes in.  When God gives us a promise, it will come to pass, but we must walk in faith knowing with God it is never too late.

Prayer:

God, you are incredible and You can do whatever You want.  It is never too late for you to turn a situation around.  It is never too late for you to move and change things that look permanent.  Thanks for reminding me this morning that it is never too late for God to turn situations around.

Your Son,

Appointed Times

Scripture:

Genesis 18:14  "Is anything too difficult for the Lord?  At the appointed time I will return to you, at this time next year, and Sarah will have a son".

Observation:

God sent messengers to Abraham to speak to him.  God had told Abraham and Sarah that they would have a child in their old age.  Abraham was ninety nine and Sarah was ninety.  They were way past childbearing years, yet God told them they would have a huge number of descendants.  The messengers reminded Abraham that nothing was too difficult with the Lord and that there was an appointed time for their child to be born.

Application:

Nothing is impossible for God!  He is amazing, powerful and can do whatever He wants to do.  Nothing is too difficult, but sometimes His timing and ours don't align.  In this passage we see that God has appointed times for things.  We don't like to wait on God because we are accustomed to getting what we want, when we want it.  We must realize that God has set times when He will take care of things in our lives.  The things I have been waiting for will come to pass in God's timing.

Prayer:

Father, give me patience as I wait for the fulfillment of promises.  Teach me to have faith and believe that there are appointed times and season with You and that, at the right time, you will bless me and provide for my needs.  Give me faith to continue trusting when it seems things aren't happening like I thought they should.

When God Delivers

Scripture:

Genesis 15:13-14  "God said to Abram, 'Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, where they will be enslaved and oppressed four hundred years.  But I will also judge the nation whom they will serve, and afterward they will come our with many possessions'".

Observation:

God gave a prophetic word to Abraham about his plans for Abraham's descendants.  It wasn't good until the very end.  He said they would be enslaved by another nation for four hundred years.  He didn't sugar-coat it for Abram.  He told him it would be bad, but that in the end, his people would come out of that nation with great possessions.  He may let us go through some things, but when He delivers, He does it extremely well.

Application:

Sometimes we don't understand why God lets us go through certain things.  Sometimes He let's us walk through some very difficult situations.  He never promises us that nothing bad will happen, but He does promise that He will never leave us nor forsake us.  He does keep good record books and will reward us and judge our enemies in the future.  When God does deliver us...He does it extremely well.

Prayer:

Father,. thanks for renewing my faith this morning.  Help me to trust that You will deliver me from some of the things I have been walking through and bring me into a place of great blessing.  You are faithful.  You allow us to go through some tough times, but you always bring your people out.  Let my family be blessed beyond measure for the sacrifices made throughout our lives.

Your Son,
Jeff

Made in the Image of God

Scripture:

Genesis 9:6  "Whoever sheds man's blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He has made man".

Observation:

After the flood, when God was making a covenant with man to never again flood the earth, He tells Noah that whoever sheds man's blood should have his own blood shed.  He then said the reason, because man is created in the image of God.  God was so serious about man being in his image that he put such strong penalty for anyone who shed the blood of another man.

Application:

If God takes such precaution about how we are to treat each other simply because we are created in his image, we need to take thought to the fact that we are created in the image of God.  We are created in the image of God, therefore we should take care of our bodies and be healthy people.  We are created in the image of God, therefore we should be cautious about what we put on and in our bodies.

Prayer:

Help me this year to take better care of the my body, which is made in your image.  Let this verse stick in my mind all year and help me get my body into better shape since it is also Your Temple.

Yours,
Jeff

Noah Walked With God

Scripture:

Genesis 6:9  "These are the records of the generations of Noah.  Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God."

Observation:

This is simply a historical record or genealogy, but God made sure to record some things here that give us clues and facts about Noah.  It says of Noah that he was a righteous man, blameless and that he walked with God.  I believe Noah was righteous and blameless because he walked with God.  Righteousness and blamelessness come out of a right relationship with the Father.

Application:

I wish I could have a picture of what "Noah walked with God" looks like.  We know that Noah's forefather's truly "walked with God" in the garden.  In the New Testament we are told to walk in step with the Holy Spirit.  Either way, I want to be a person who walks with God.  I want to know Him more and more each day.

Prayer:

Father, I want to walk with You like Noah, Enoch, Moses, etc.  I want to know You more each day.  Help me to be a person who walks with You daily and does everything You ask of me.  Teach me to hear Your voice clearer in 2015 than ever before.  I want to walk with You.

Subdue and Rule

Scripture:

Genesis 1:28  "God blessed them; and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth'".

Observation:

When God created Adam and Eve, He gave them His plan for their lives.  He said they should be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, subdue it and rule over it.  Wow!  That's a big plan to be given, but it is the plan of God.  He put them in charge.

Application:

God wants His people to subdue and rule over his creation.  We are not called to simply stand by and watch what happens around us.  We are to subdue and rule!  We must rise up and fulfill God's plan for creation.  We must implement His plan for our lives.  He has so much more in store for us than we can imagine ourselves.  We are part of a huge plan.

Prayer:

Lord God Almighty, help me not to cower in fear when things don't go my way.  Help me to walk in faith and learnt o subdue and rule over every area of my life and over the things you have put me in charge of.  Thanks for your word today.

Your Son,
Jeff
